When Microsoft announced the XNA Studio for enthusiasts, it was welcomed with open arms by the community. This was partly because it was a noble idea, and partly because it meant that homebrew received a lot of audience as it was officially recognized and even supported to an extent. Attached below is the source code, so if you feel like you can contribute something to the upcoming X360 homebrew scene, go ahead and download it. You will still require XNA Game Studio Express Beta to compile code written in Visual C# Express (free), and finally, Microsoft .NET 2.0 Runtimes. |

You have to buy XNA, buy C#.. then you can finally build applications after you buy an X360? Oh wait.. for the PS3's linux you can just write C++, for free, compile it.. for free.. then run it after you buy a PS3.
I don't think Microsoft has learned much at all. They're still trying to profit from homebrew. -.- GG Xbox1 leaked dev kits.
XNA is a free software James. You can download it for free at: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=21E979E3-B8AE-4EA6-8E65-393EA7684D6C&displaylang=en
The C# coding program needed for this version of XNA is Microsoft Visual C# 2005 Express Edition. You can download it for free at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/visualcsharp/download/
You do not need a X360 to run XNA application that you have written. But you need PC with Windows installed. It is a joke that you even mention that you need a X360 to build applications. You need a PS3 to code applications to the PS3. Its like saying that you need a PC to write applications to a PC. For me it seams like a rather logical equation.
Do you know anything about the possibilities of writing and running code on the Playstation 3, I would be most pleased to hear it. I think you are one of the few who knows. So share you knowledge please James.
I think it is good if Microsoft can make some profits on homebrew. I would be most happy so support them. I think that XNA is a beautiful toolset that will, IMHO, lead to a smaller revolution in homebrew developement. The XNA Game Studio Express tools and runtime environment for Windows is completely free. To develop, debug and/or play games on the Xbox 360 you will be required to purchase a XNA “Creator’s Club” subscription on the Xbox 360 through Xbox Live Marketplace. The subscription is available in 2 options, $99 a year or $49 for 4 months.
I havnt heard anything about homebrew on the PS3. Maybe James has figured it out before the PS3's release? Perhaps James is superman. :O
Anyway, 2d game looks good.
