Shane Kim gets a promotion - Image 1Some news today on the business side of gaming. Microsoft Game Studios revealed earlier today that Shane Kim would be taking up a new position at the company.

According to the report by Games Industry, Shane Kim would be receiving the new position of corporate VP of strategy and business development for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment business. Replacing him in his former position as head of Microsoft Game Studios is Phil Spencer, who was previously the head of Microsoft Game Studios in Europe.

Notes Kim,

I am taking a newly-created position within the Interactive Entertainment business. I'll be leaving my position as the leader of Microsoft Game Studios to run strategy and business development for the overall Interactive Entertainment business. I'll continue to report to Don [Mattrick].

In related news, Microsoft also announced that Jeff Bell, VP of Global Marketing, would be leaving the company. No word as to the reasons for his departure but we expect to have more info later in the day. Keep checking QJ for updates on this and all your other important news tidbits.
