Xbox Live - Image 1Okay, so we're all wide awake and waiting for Microsoft's Xbox 360 Spring update. Well we doubt if you'll be staying up any longer once you read this update from Major Nelson.

According to him, he has just received word from the Dashboard team that the much-awaited won't be coming out in the next 24 hours. So far, there has been no explanation as to why this is the case, but he did promise that he'll be getting some more information come tomorrow afternoon (PT) and update us all.

Now before any of you people demand for whatever form of compensation for this "delay", let it be clear that this isn't exactly a delay per se. In fact, if you'll review the official press release, they did say that it will be released on the "week of May 7th", and not May 7th on the dot. So don't get too impatient, m'lads. It's only a matter of time now. Keep it posted here for more updates on the Spring 2007 update.

I'd rather them wait and give us an update that works, rather than rushing to meet a date and have an update that's going to brick our system again.

id rather they just release it already, but only for the .X264 support lol, sod streaming divx/avi's - they look crap on my 32" monitor, id rather watch/stream high def video files straight to my 360 anyway :D

Your 32" monitor is obviously bad.

Isn't the biggest monitor you can get 30"? By "monitor" do you mean "TV with PC input"?

 » He might not

I remember on NewEgg awhile ago (not sure if it's still there) there was a 42" screen touted as a PC monitor, not a TV, ie it had no coaxial connection, no component or composite or anything, it was a straight-up PC monitor and was about $3000 I believe

 » Transcode 360

Try a program called transcode 360. It's free, and it streams just about any type of video file you can imagine, from your pc to your 360.

Beginning the week of May 7, 2007, the Xbox 360 Spring Update will provide Xbox 360 owners worldwide with access to Windows Live Messenger features, broadening the communication options on the Xbox LIVE social network.

^This is what it says! How come everyone keeps leaving out the BEGINNING part?

 » Grrrrr

I hope you can turn off the messenger functionality while in games or something, I don't want the annoying people on my MSN contact list messaging me while I'm trying to play Gears online

 » Duh.

obviously you'll be able to sign out, and stop live messenger, if you cant, someone at microsoft is going to get mighty familiar with my fist.

For what its worth ign.com are claiming it will be available for download at some point May 9th (Wednesday)
They were spot on with the Gears Annex date so hopefully they will be right again!
