Capcom's already told us that they're planning to beef up Street Fighter IV (PS3, Xbox 360) shortly after the launch, but until now, the publisher has been keeping quiet about the release margin of the said patch.

This patch is expected to improve Street Fighter IV's multiplayer gameplay with a free Championship mode expansion. This enhanced tournament matchmaking system will allow players from all over to pit their skills against each other and see who's that baddest fighter in the streets. This feature also comes with a new point system for rankings and the option to record, playback, and upload fight replays.

Unfortunately, Capcom gives us no word on when this patch is coming. We'll just have to wait it out, like always.

Is it because its something they have to actually still make? unlike those costume packs that are included on the disc and you have to pay just to be able to select

sly moves.

Looking forward to that patch but I wish something could be done about the network play. Takes me ages to actually get into a game with someone after a mass of 'game already full' and 'unable to join' messages and then the extreme lag I get most of the time i'm succesful usually resulting in 'connection lost'. The connection bar doesn't help at all. Sometimes I've had a super laggy game with someone who had 4 bars, while other times had a totally smooth match with someone who had no bars full at all. Doesn't make sense and it's really putting me off the game which is a shame as I love it otherwise.

 » The fact is....

arcade fighters were never meant to be played online.

The reason it's so hard to get into a game is that any game only needs one person.

So while you searched and found the game you wanted to join, one person out of 10'000 found it a second sooner than you did....

So you mash the X button and hope to get a match ASAP, sometimes resulting in joining a crappy host.....I feel you.

This is why you don't rely on online, you really only buy these games if you have a group of buddies to play with.....it's the only true way.

Still....the online is very playable...the most playable of any of the online fighters so far....but it still suffers from the same matchmaking problems.

The few friends I've got locally don't seem to be into Street Fighter which is one of my all time fave game series. They're more into FPS games and such which I can't stand... killzone, call of duty, unreal, resistance and so on... that's why I was hoping for a good network thing in SFIV so I could find some human people to play against...

oh well...

 » what's wrong with it?

I play online for three or four hours every night against strangers and I've rarely ever seen lag. I agree the connection bar thing doesn't mean anything, because I usually have the best connection with people who have zero bars, and since pretty much everyone does it works fine.
I love the online in this game, but maybe I just doesn't notice any problems because the last fighting game I tried to play online with was smash bros brawl. Terrible.

Anyway if you're having problems with it try using a wired connection, and also just turn on fight request mode and play arcade mode while you wait for players, it's much faster and less frustrating than trying to join matches.

As if we didn't know? This has been posted all over the place already and to update to tell us there is no update is stupid. Just shows that QJ just writes to fill up space sometimes ha.
