Take-Two has announced a video game based on Marvel's Ghost Rider franchise, to coincide with the movie adaptation's release in early 2007. Ghost Rider is being developed by Climax Group (Moto GP) for unspecified "console and handheld systems". They're designing the game as a third-person action title. It picks up on the storyline when Ghost Rider's protagonist Johnny Blaze (played by Nicolas Cage in the movie) gets transformed into a superhero, gaining a plethora of supernatural powers.
Not only will the game heavily revolve around melee combat - it will also feature lots of motorcycle action, probably the reason why they've chosen Climax Group as the developer.

Christoph Hartmann, Managing Director of 2K Games commented: "The video game will build upon the popular elements from the Ghost Rider franchise and intertwine its thrilling action and original, compelling content into a gaming experience fans will love."

Ghost Rider is one more movie-based game in the hands of an experienced, serious developer. Are the days of half-hearted license cash-ins gone for good? We'll find out eventually...
