We will make this sweet and simple as the topic it tackles is a bit baffling already. We are all familiar with FPS games. We are also well versed with the concept of multiplayer. Now there is a certain developer, Arkane Studios, that is currently working on a title that merges the two. Uh, Counter Strike? Not quite.

Arkane Studios wouldn't divulge any concrete details about the project. They added, helpfully if we may add, that this is just simple math: single player plus multiplayer equals crossplayer. Well, we don't know about that but we hope the short video below will be of some help to you.

At any rate, we are all okay with anything that expands the genre and the industry. We will just inform you as more things come about this crossplayer thing come up.

 » Crossplayer

What does that means?

Could be a lot of things, the way I see it.

Example 1: Your playing as an american spy that needs to get information on a druglord in a factory in columbia. But who's that guy moving there, killing the guards....it's another player who's mission would be to eliminate someone in that same factory.

Example 2: You need to complete a mission before your rival. Like getting some info.

So in fact, you either get the option to play single or multiplayer. Multiplayer let you play ennemies in some 1 player games of other players. Or you get competition like progress in the game.

Those are just some ideas, guess we'll see for sure when.

 » First, yes...

Your first example definitely fits. It's still really 'multiplayer' but it fits the vein they were aiming for, I think.

But your second example is just plain old multiplayer. It's a race between 2 players. That's multiplayer.

In the end, you either play with other people or you don't. You can't have it both ways. Crossplayer cannot exist and it's a REALLY dumb tactic to hype something you don't have.

basically, its like when that chinese woman had sex with like 1000 guys in 2 hours, she was playing like a single player, but she was also multiplaying with all the guys, i think this is the same.......?

 » MMOFPS?

It looks like MMORPG to me, except that you play as you would on a FPS. It does looks nice -- a game with a plot, and yet, a game where you can shoot anything that moves... good combo -- I hope they don't mess it up.

 » My Guess

Here's my guess.

Everyone's thought about it at one time or another, but now this game's actually trying it. You go into a campaign game, and start fighting bad guys. But what's this? THe bad guys are people!

That's right, someone's finally making a game where people play both roles in a campaign, trying to complete goals while simultaneously stopping people from completing goals.

In a few weeks, when this is announced as the direction of the game, they will call me a prophet.

^that must be it. I mean there is no other explanation. The secret is unveiled. It like every person who loads up the game has different objectives which are randomly chosen from i guess about 25 different objectives. in time your plot "crosses" through the other guys plot.

You are probably right, if it is then this could be the future of online game. Where gamers can be good or bad, crosses each other and stop each other from accomplish their goals or objectives, and at the same time each person will try to accomplish their objectives.
