Rock Band 1 songs will be never be DLC - Image 1MTV Games has announced that songs from the first Rock Band game will not be available as downloadable content for Rock Band 2 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii) in the future.

Apparently, the reasons are capitalistic, as they plan to publish the first game "indefinitely." Considering that they had to relicense every song for use in Rock Band 2, this was a predictable move for them, but bad news for us.

A feature in Rock Band 2 will allow you to export the songs from the first game, but this would cost US$ 5. Still, you'd get 55 songs for only five bucks, and that's a good deal.

The only real reason you'd need to buy the original Rock Band if you have the sequel is to get the three songs that are non-transferable: "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, "Run to the Hills" by Iron Maiden, and "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath. It's a bit harsh for MTV Games to have us buy the whole game just for these three tracks though.
