because DivX is used mainly for pirated content.
Microsoft wont pay royalties to Divx in order for it to pbe playable on the Xbox360.
What does this mean? They first have to pay Divx in order to use it on the Xbox360. then its development time to get it incorporated into the Xbox360 software.
This means it wont be free. Microsoft will charge probably 10 bucks to everyone to wants it and will probably charge 10 bucks for every new version of divx.
Why should they support the competitions format when they already have a format of their own.
Even if all 4 Million Xbox Live subscribers petitioned Microsoft to support Divx on the Xbox360. The chances are slim to none.
Do you people even realize, it took them over 5 years to support a unified format for their office suite. And thats over 100 Million people who buy the Microsoft Office Software that have been annoying MS to do something about the file system. Whats 4 Million people to them? Absolutely nothing, they have your money, just be glad they are still adding games to BC list.
Until someone who is intelligent enough to use the XNA software to make a open-source Video player that supports Divx. Dont expect MS to do anything about it.
u can already play divx and mp4 files on ur xbox360
with transcode 360........
We know that. The difference between Microsoft actually supporting another format other than its own and a workaround, however, is that Microsoft willingly closes its doors to anything other than itself, and that just doesn't seem fair.
yeah, i did this a long time ago. Idiots need to stop being stupid..
Does this work with XviD Files stored on DVD+R or X360-HDD?
Why would they want to offer DIVX....?
They obviously won't sell as many HDDVD's.
Duh.
The end.
A much smarter way would be to use XviD which is open source and plays back all DivX formatted movies. That would cost them and us nothing!
Signed~
