First came the rumors and then the alleged confirmation. This time, there's no mistaking it as Sierra Entertainment has finally issued an official press release regarding the PC action-strategy video game World In Conflict coupled with screenshots. The title is being co-developed by Swordfish Studios as well as Massive Entertainment.

World In Conflict offers fans something new because of its background story. In this game, the Berlin Wall never fell and the Soviets boldly advance to Europe because of fear of collapse. NATO responds in force only to be greeted by a full-fledged invasion of the American homeland.

Given that premise, you know it's going to be one heck of a bloody war. In World In Conflict, players will take the role of a field commander with the objective of reclaiming America's cities and suburbs. Some of the Xbox 360 version's features include:
  • Super-Powered Warfare: Unleash the arsenals of the great military superpowers in the gripping single-player story created by Larry Bond
  • Bleeding-Edge Graphics: The latest version of Massive's proprietary Masstech engine allows for a full 360 degree range of camera control and features advanced lighting and physics effects
  • Complete Destructibility: As the battle rages, the world environment pays the price - every object in the game will crumble under the force of war, including cars, buildings and forests
  • Deep Multiplayer Modes: World In Conflict will support up to 16 players for head-to-head and team-based battles in Domination, Assault and Tug-of-War gameplay styles
  • Real World Units: Players will take control of the most devastating arsenal of military weaponry ever created, including Soviet, American, and NATO tanks, planes, trucks, troops, and helicopters as well as nuclear weapons
  • Player Roles: Players will choose to play as Infantry, Armor, Support Forces, or Aerial specialists; multiplayer teams will need to master each role for maximum effectiveness
"World In Conflict is the natural fit for Xbox 360, as it effectively blurs the lines between strategy, action and first-person shooter, making controlling units and issuing orders quick and easy on the console controller," commented Sierra Entertainment Senior Vice President of Global Marketing Al Simone.

The PC version of World In Conflict will be released in September while the Xbox 360 version will follow sometime in Autumn.

 » Sweet another RTS(LOL)

They think it works perfectly. No console controller works better than a keyboard and mouse. I see this game being fustrating like all the other RTS on 360. Also by judging from the pictures above. It doesnt look as good as the PC version. Will companies stop trying to get money by thinking they can make RTS work on consoles. I hate how they have to satify the people that dont have jobs and owna 360.

 » blah blah

Funny how I already know the plot of any game based on the Russia vs USA theme. (World in Conflict, EndWar, Call of Duty 4) Either US wins or its a tie.......
I mean obviously they can't let Russia win since it would un-patriotic and cause loss of confidence in our government, even though Bush's approval rating is already below 28%.
