November 30, 2005 - February 21, 2002. Xbox lands in Japan and Bill Gates flies in to hand out the first official system at the giant Tsutaya retailer in Tokyo's Shibuya ward. IGN, having obtained system the night before through "alternative" means, is so unimpressed that it puts up a story filled with red Xs.

Microsoft announced today plans for a repeat event to launch the Xbox 360 in Japan. The official X360 launch event will take place at 6:45am in the giant Tsutaya building in Shibuya. Microsoft and the sexy Tsutaya staff will convert the first floor into an Xbox 360 sales outlet, complete with "Xbox 360 Giant Gacha Gacha," awarding prizes to those who purchase hardware and software for Microsoft's next generation system.
Xbox fans in Japan will also want to pay attention to the happenings at the Xbox 360 Lounge near launch. On the 9th, Microsoft will hold a special invite-only gathering for Xbox Live members at the lounge. Launch day will see another invite-only event. We'll have a full report right here at IGN from these events and the Tsutaya launch.

There's been no announcement of appearances by Bill Gates, but if he does show up, you can be sure we'll tease him over the whole "Sand Rock Mar" thing.
