Xbox360powersupply

CNN recently tested out how much power the Xbox 360 uses. CNN writes:

?We tested the 'box using Extech's MA200 power meter, which gives real-time power consumption results. It turns out that the Xbox 360 draws about 160 watts of power, over twice as much as the original Xbox, which draws 74 watts, and the PlayStation 2, which draws about 50.?

Will this trend be common with the PlayStation 3 as well? Using current figures, the Xbox 360 uses 2.162 (repeated of course) the power as its Xbox predecessor. Applying the same calculations, will the PlayStation 3 use 108 watts? Power usage aside, what this means for you is that you will be paying an extra $10 to $35 anually (depending on your local prices and playtime.)

that is no big supprise. a computer with an AMD X2 uses 161 watts on idle. full load(including 2 6800GTs on full load) uses 269 watts. i would think for what it is capable of, and the hardware that is in it, that 160 watts is perfectly acceptable.

Why are that ****ing about the 360 using barely any power at all?Thats a little more then what a light bulb uses. "the great white beast chomps down more electricity than almost every piece of living room electronics we tested," because it's a computer, dumbass. A PC running those specs would use atleast 2x that amount of wattage. "Will this trend be common with the PlayStation 3 as well?" of course idiot, its an even more powerful computer.

the ps3 will use just the same...and i'm sure the revo will too...

whats the big ****ing deal?

Brutal....it draws 168 watts of power...aww thats so bad.....my light draws 120 watts, i expect my 360 to be better than a light (sarcasm)

And wtf, they try and sound so high tech, "we tested the box using Extech's MA200 power meter, which gives real time power consumption", Well no **** sherlock, thats what a power meter does, whooo "real time", what else are they going to do. This article is such a POS miss leader its not even funny. 10-35$ a month my ass....

I think the comparison was more for the difference in console's

So far its the highest by more than double.

So compared to Console's its high.

Ill be paying more a year for the 360? I better switch my car insurance to Geico and save some money for this new best of an electic magnet. The horror of it, well I guess playing almost 6 hours on it today will put me in bankruptcy.

Wow a real time electricity meeter... i only have the one that tells me the results 5 seconds later. I have to pinch the power line and let a little bit of electricity ooze out, then i put it onto a strip and put it in my OneTouch Ultra Power Meter and it tells me the results...

HAHAHA iceman... bankruptcy... LOL!

That thing is huge...the 360 should have shipped with an Original Xbox that doubles as power supply... would be alot smaller and it would be compatible with more than 12 Xbox Games... Gee, that's a a great idea. Remind me to forward that to Bill Gates when he decides to launch the Xbox720 in 2 years time.
