They probably won't do it, not this gen anyway; Eventually they will. At this rate, and if PS3/BluRay fails, Sony won't last long, while Microsoft will be around for a long time to come regardless of HD-DVD success, or even 360 success.
But it's good to see them try
Don't want to elicit hate from Sony fans, but go MS
...they need to gain respect in the market.
One reason for its failure in Japan was the fact that alot of the launch games were poor.
Even the US launch didnt alot of games that appealed to US gamers.
FPS games galore with several PC ports wasnt something that people wanted. How many people here ended up getting Perfect Dark Zero? I did, and so did alot of the other people I know. The PC ports were just unplayable because in comparison, the graphics were crappy, gameplay wasnt nearly as good, and the single player didnt offer anything new.
Japanese players like the single player expierence. The multiplayer expierence was always best when you sit side by side with your friends. Thats why Microsoft hasnt done well. Most of the Xbox360 games are best enjoyed while playing online against faceless people.
IF they really want Japanese support, they need to get a good assortment of single player games. They have started with Blue Dragon, and they also need party games that appeal to Japanese gamers. If you cant have fun playing next to 3 of your friends, then it wont do well in Japan.
Japanese people have very very specific taste when it comes to games. Thats the reason why less then a tenth of the Japanese games ever make it to US shores and not many US games make it over to Japan.
This is why Nintendo and Sony have always dominated. Microsoft will only stand a chance if they start making games that appeal to younger gamers, ill say one thing, if a childrens game makes it big in the US, thats the type of game that needs to be sold in Japan. Its wierd, but thats the kind of stuff that they like over in Japan.
