Call of Duty 3 Gold Edition on sale at Circuit City - Image 1Publisher Activision recently release three Call of Duty titles simultaneously, including Roads to Victory for the PlayStation Portable (PSP), and CoD 2 and CoD 3 for the Xbox 360. Now, retail chain Circuit City has a good offer for the Xbox 360 video games that is sure to save you a lot of pennies.

Call of Duty 2, which was developed by Infinity Ward, is on sale at the said retail store for only US$ 13.99, down twenty bucks from its original price of US$ 39.99. The item is currently out of stock, but check Circuit City's online catalogue or your local store every now and then and see, if they've replenished their stocks.

Likewise, fans can get Treyarch's Call of Duty 3 for a low price of US$ 39.99. The item, thank goodness, is in stock. Take note that we aren't talking about the normal package of the game here. What's on sale is the Gold Edition that includes several bonus items like a bonus DVD and a key code that can be used to obtain an Xbox Live Marketplace Token which will unlock the Valor Map Pack.

Speaking of which, it would be remembered that the Valor Map Pack had to be put down from the Marketplace at one time because of its various glitches, but Activision has previously announced that that's been fixed now. Anyway, the Read link below will take you to Circuit City's product page, so start shopping!

Achtung! 3 Call of Duty titles with a simultaneous release? - Image 1The Call of Duty series is a multi-million dollar franchise held by Activision. Not content to rest on their laurels, Activision will be releasing three Call of Duty titles simultaneously under their label. Two titles will be released for the Xbox 360 and one will be a PSP exclusive, and these three titles are sure to make any fan of the series drool with anticipation.

Call of Duty 3: Gold Edition for the Xbox 360: It contains everything the original Xbox 360 game has - plus a bonus DVD with behind-the-scenes footage. With an MSRP of US$ 59.99, it costs the same as the first release, so if you missed out on buying the first one, perhaps you should consider getting this now.

Call of Duty 2: Platinum Hits Expanded Edition for the Xbox 360: For those who haven't played this classic, it will be re-released with a bonus DVD that includes mission walkthroughs. With an MSRP US$ 29.99, it's a bargain.

Call of Duty: Roads to Victory for the PSP: A PSP exclusive developed by Amaze Entertainment, this game promises to bring new challenges in the form of mounted machine gun battles, sniper encounters, and aircraft attacks. Multiplayer for up to six players via ad-hoc wireless is possible as well. With an MSRP of US$ 39.99, it's worth every penny for fans of the series.

All the games mentioned will be released on March 14, 2007. We'll bring you more news as we get more information.

Xbox 360This is it. The list to end all lists (for the current year, anyway)! Courtesy of Major Nelson, here are the top 20 Xbox 360 titles of 2006, as well as the year's top 20 purchased arcade titles, based on data collected from January 1 to December 29.

Oh, before we move on to the lists, here's a short reminder from the Major:

Remember, UU's is the number of Gamertags that have played a game. In the case of Arcade titles, that list is ranked by purchased games. That is why the Arcade titles may be ranked out of order on the top list. Some Arcade titles may be purchased by one Gamertag, but played by multiple Gamertags.

2006 Top Xbox 360 Titles (UU's)
  1. Gears of War
  2. Hexic HD
  3. Call of Duty 2
  4. Ghost Recon 3
  5. Oblivion
Check out the complete lists after the jump!

callofduty2There's a little concern lately about Xbox titles going haywire via Major Nelson's list. Call of Duty 2 topped the game chart as the most played Xbox 360 title last week. Doom brought the award home as the most popular Live Arcade title (and 6th in the overall game chart).

Most folks would think this is kind of sad knowing the Xbox 360's capabilities, graphics, and controls alike have probably been maxed out already, but some players believe it still offered the next-gen wham at a lesser price compared to the PS3. But that's something we've yet to see, as Sony hasn't released its own weapon against Microsoft.

The rest of the Xbox 360's most played titles include Saints Row, Madden NFL 07, Ghost Recon 3, Test Drive Unlimited, Doom, Dead Rising, Oblivion, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, and Sonic the Hedgehog demo. The best-selling arcade titles next to Doom are Texas Hold 'em, Uno, Hexic HD, TotemBall, Geometry Wars Evolved, Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting, PacMan, Marble Blast Ultra, and Bankshot Billiards 2.

The weeks list of the top ten Xbox 360 games played over Xbox Live is in as Major Nelson has posted it up and the number one spot this week again goes to Saint's Row, which makes me wonder what place GTA 4 will take when it is released. The Xbox Live Arcade title Texas Hold 'em is still holding it's ground on the list as it is still there in ninth place.

From Dusk Till Dawn

Robert Bowling, Community Relations Manager of Infinity Ward, is a great party planner if you judge him by the success of the Call of Duty 2 All Nighter Party. Arena Interactive lounge in West LA played host to the LA party. But the fun wasn't limited to just L.A.; there was a simultaneous event at Miami, and across the world, players were able to join in the gaming through Xbox Live.

It was a big event. Robert Bowling said, "This is the first time we've ever done it. We thought it was time to give something back to our community that has supported us for so long since launch back in November so we're giving something a little bit back."

And what did they give back?
  • Hours of gaming on wide-screen HDTVs and rumble sofas. That's with 10 speakers in each set-up (5 in the couch; 5 on the TV).
  • Freebies every hour and half-hour. That's signed copies of Call of Duty 2 (signed by the whole team), clothes, game cases, and a few Xbox 360 consoles.
The gaming set-up makes us turn Xbox-360-green with envy (10 speakers!). We wish we had been there. Watch the video. See how they had fun. See Robert Bowling get his ass pinched (that's what it looks like).

Saints RowSeems like everyone wants to get down and dirty in Stilwater. Major Nelson's weekly worldwide Live game stats for the week beginning on the 11th show Saints Row topping the 360 list. Well, given that Saints has topped out or at least placed strongly in the sales and rental charts, this probably would be no surprise. On its heels is Madden NFL '07.

Over at the Arcade front, everyone's pulling poker faces as Texas Hold'em leads the pack, followed by Hexic HD. (Texas also pulled 8th in the 360 games list). And with the classic Xbox, Halo 2 is the one to beat.

Here are the complete lists of Live 360 and Arcade game-kickers.

Xbox 360 Top Live Games
  1. Saints Row
  2. Madden NFL 07
  3. Call of Duty 2
  4. Test Drive Unlimited
  5. Ghost Recon 3
  6. Dead Rising
  7. Oblivion
  8. Texas Hold 'em
  9. Chromehounds
  10. BFMC
Top Arcade Titles (full versions, not demos)
  1. Texas Hold 'em
  2. Hexic HD
  3. Street Fighter II' Hyper Fighting
  4. UNO
  5. Geometry Wars Evolved
  6. Time Pilot
  7. Scramble
  8. Pac Man

COD2

Call of Duty 2 for the Xbox 360, the game which was recently-named the most played game on Xbox Live has yet another trophy to add to it's glass cabinet today after publisher Activision announced that the Xbox 360 version has sold over 1 Million copies
in the U.S territory alone.  The award-winning title is the #1 best selling game on Xbox 360 and continues to be among the highest rated games for the platform as shown by the magical 1 Million sales mark.

"We are proud that Call of Duty 2 is the first title to sell over one million units on the Xbox 360 in the U.S." said Robin Kaminsky, executive vice president, Activision Publishing. "Activision has made a strong commitment to develop leading franchises for the next-generation consoles and we look forward to continuing that successful strategy with our titles launching on Xbox 360 PlayStation 3 and the Wii this fall."

The release of these figures certainly concretes COD2 as being one of the most successful Xbox 360 titles to date, and sales continue to rise. Other successes of COD2 include netting $1 Million in revenue from Xbox Live and being Xbox Live's game of the week numerous times.
