Visceral Games has a grand idea for gamers this holiday season: spend Christmas in hell! No, not literally, of course, and they don't mean having Christmas dinner with relatives you hate. It just so happens that the PS3 and Xbox 360 demos for Dante's Inferno will be released this December.

Electronic Arts has released the sixth developer diary for Dante's Inferno (PS3, PSP, and Xbox 360), the controversial video game adaptation based on the epic first part of Dante's Divine Comedy. In the latest video installment, the developer's opens up the sixth circle of hell, heresy. 'Nough said, take a good look at the devils backyard after the jump.

When your video game is all about the evils that will land you in hell, expect controversies and uproar left and right. This is true for Electronic Arts' video game interpretation of the Divine Comedy, Dante's Inferno (PS3, PSP, Xbox 360). Their latest predicament involves a nanny group not being so happy about the game's "Bad Nanny" achievement.

I never imagined that if a video game was made out of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, it would look so much like a Greek mythology-based game that we all know. Comparisons aside, Electronic Arts still managed to craft some impressive detail into Dante's Inferno (PS3, PSP, and Xbox 360), although it's admittedly hard to get over the similarities to that other game.

Your trip to hell's been dated. During the Electronic Arts conference at the currently ongoing GamesCom event in Cologne, the North American and European launch dates for Visceral Games' Dante's Inferno were finally announced.

If you're working on a game that highlights the nine circles of hell, you may very well expect debauchery to ensue, at least as far as the storyline or gameplay will go. But having said that, it does not necessarily follow that you'll have a free pass here on Earth when marketing such said game. Electronic Arts should have probably known that from the onset, but I guess they were busy getting all excited about sinning to win. Their newest marketing ploy for Dante's Inferno (PS3, PSP, Xbox 360) launched at the Comic-Con was quite a controversial one, requiring them to make an apology to the offended public.

When Dante Alighieri wrote Inferno, he had no idea of what his romance would become centuries later. The classic-turned-video game is about to take another form, now that Electronic Arts and DC Comics have announced their partnership to bring the hell-touring masterpiece into a graphic novel.

After that "religious protest" stunt EA pulled during E3, Visceral Games' Dante's Inferno fell off the radar for a bit. It's back in style, however, with a new trailer showing of the game's God of War-like action. Check out main character Dante slicing and dicing hell's denizens after the jump.
