If the old adage says that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery," then MKR Group should probably feel flattered by the fact that Capcom has come up with a game like Dead Rising. Thing is, the group isn't. It's gotten to the point where both parties are seeking to assert their legal rights. More legal issues abound after the jump. |

Xbox 360 Wire reports that rumors of Dead Rising 2 appearing at this year's Tokyo Game Show have started trickling out. As the sequel to Dead Rising, one of the most popular Xbox 360 titles, this one's sure to generate a lot of heat for Microsoft's console.Details are still very sketchy at this point. There's no indication of whether Dead Rising 2 will be on the show floor or if it will be shown during a special closed-door event. The game wasn't included in our earlier post on Capcom's TGS lineup, so take this report with a little grain of salt. The game is also rumored to be a multi-platform release. This coincides with Capcom's earlier statements of bringing their IPs to as many gamers as they could. Keep checking back here for more updates. |

It was earlier reported that Capcom has announced an official sequel to Dead Rising. Knowing Capcom's business style that lives and dies with sequels, we had every reason to believe it, but the "news" proved premature.According to Capcom PR Director Chris Kramer, the reports of Dead Rising 2 are "erroneous." He adds, "There has been no official announcement of a sequel to Dead Rising." Capcom has traced the root of the error to a French site that misunderstood a rumor. Apparently, Famitsu wrote up something in its rumor section regarding Dead Rising 2. The French site had an error in translating the article and ended up on its news page. The rest was history as blogs caught on like wildfire. When asked if there will ever be a Dead Rising 2, Kramer gave a standard-issue "we have not made any announcements about a Dead Rising sequel." But cheer up, Dead Rising fans, we bet the farm there will be a sequel. With all the business sense it makes, it's just not likely that Capcom doesn't have plans for it. We'll keep you posted and let you know as soon as the real official announcement comes. |

Good news for gamers, bad news for zombies. Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu in an issue mentioned something about Dead Rising 2. Because of the success of the first iteration of the game, Dead Rising, rumor has been circulating that there might possibly be a sequel currently under development for the Xbox 360. We've also caught word that creator Keiji Inafune said Dead Rising 2 "is in talks". So, don't get your hopes up just yet.Details (meaning confirmations and denials) are still scarce, but more information could come via Capcom's Gamers' Day event on Thursday. We'll be keeping our eyes peeled back for more info, so keep checking back here for updates. As for the zombies out there, well, we don't suggest going back to the mall just yet. Update: Our source for this bit of information changed its entry from "Dead Rising confirme" to "Dead Rising 2 confirme [Rumeur]" so we opted to update our article, too to reflect the changes made. |
