Chart Track UK - Image 1

Chart Track UK has published the results of the Top 40 games in their region for the week ending October 6. Although it's not surprising that Halo 3 debuted right at the top of last week's chart (week ending September 29), what you might find a bit of a bother now is that it no longer reigns supreme.

From second place last week, Electronic Arts' FIFA 08 (PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, PC, Wii, and DS) has bumped Halo 3 from the number one spot and claimed it for itself. Meanwhile, MySims got demoted one level down from the third spot, which is now occupied by Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights.
  1. FIFA 08
  2. Halo 3
  3. Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights
  4. MySims
  5. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08
  6. More Brain Training From Dr. Kawashima
  7. Sega Rally
  8. Ratatouille
  9. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training
  10. Forza Motorsport 2
One probable reason (we're sure there are a lot others) why Halo 3 is now in second place is because of its stellar success during the first week - probably anyone and everyone who would have or could have gotten a copy of the game during the first week of its release already did so, therefore not getting much contribution in sales for this week. Besides. Who ever said getting the second spot was bad?

FIFA 08 PS3 screenshot - Image 1

Last minute technical issues have pushed back the European release of Electronic Arts' latest FIFA title. According to IGN, the following post on the official FIFA 08 (PC, PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, DS, PSP, Wii) forums announced the delay:

We're sorry to have to tell everyone that the FIFA 08 demo won't be launching in Europe today as was expected. Although the demo is being released in North America there were a couple of issues which we couldn't get ironed out in time to release today despite working through out the night to get these sorted.

QJ.NET reader Jonathan Waters has informed us that the demo is on the European PlayStation Store, though, so we suggest logging on and checking if it's there. Whatever the case may be, check out the new screenshots of the game below.

FIFA 08 - Image 1The nationalistic fervor burns even hotter in EA Sports' FIFA 08 as the developers of one of the world's best-selling sports game franchises announce a collection of 50 songs from artists around the world.

Every national team represented in FIFA 08 has a corresponding song and band from their own country that ups the passion as you take on the world's elite teams in the planet's most popular ballgame.

Included in the mix are artists such as The Hoosiers (UK), Babamars (France), Bodyrox (UK), Junkie XL (Holland), and Santogold (USA), Simian Mobile Disco (UK), CSS (Brazil), Datarock (Norway), Dover (Spain), Ivy Queen (Puerto Rico), Junkie XL (Holland), Maximo Park (UK), Mexican Institute of Sound (Mexico), Peter Bjorn And John (Sweden), Planet Funk (Italy), Superbus (France), The Cat Empire (Australia), and Wir Sind Helden (Germany). Many more are in store to be discovered when the game hits.

"We’ve been working for nearly a year to deliver what we believe is the ultimate FIFA 08 soundtrack," comments Steve Schnur, Worldwide Executive of Music at EA. "These are the most songs ever in a FIFA edition representing the most countries in the history of the videogame."

EA Sports' FIFA football franchise is the longest-running football simulation to date and has sold millions of copies around the world with iterations dating back to almost two decades. FIFA 08 will be released on the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, PC, Nintendo DS and Sony PlayStation Portable.

FIFA 08 Demo coming out on September 13th - Image 1

The demo for Electronic Arts' FIFA '08 was initially slated for August 28. However, a post on the official forums of EA said that it would be delayed and released two weeks after that, thus placing the new launch date on September 13. This was further confirmed by EA in the forums. The demo will include the same teams as the PC demo (which was released last August 31) with the exception of AC Milan.

Fans of the game can expect most of the features from FIFA '07 such as Interactive Leagues and Manager Mode making an appearance. In addition to this, the game has a new engine which is supposed to allow the players on the teams to react the same way their real-life counterparts.

If you plan on picking this game up, it's slated to be out in the US on October 9, 2007 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 2, PC, Wii, Nintendo DS, and Playstation Portable with a PlayStation 3 version following on October 16.

Football fever is in the air once again as we feature a three-part video of EA Sports' premiere soccer sim, FIFA 08. Here we can see Joe Booth, the EA representative, talk about the various features that we'll be seeing in this newest next generation console upgrade for the series during the recent Games Convention 2007.

It seems to have everything that any fan of the sport could possibly ask for: signature moves from Ronaldinho with his flip-flap, as well as all the other fancy moves from other famous players, 30 leagues, with over a whopping fifteen thousand players in the game, and of course the new dynamics included in upgrading this well loved series for both the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Booth also announced something that a lot of players have been clamouring for a long time. Namely, the much anticipated 11-on-11 matches that the FIFA series hoped to achieve. No, it's still not available right now, although an alternative mode has been created as a stepping stone towards that direction. However, it was projected that by 2010 it'll finally be something that the guys at EA Sports can finally bring to fruition.

FIFA 08 is slated to come out in September for the PC, PS2, Xbox 360, PSP, Nintendo DS and Wii while the PS3 release will be a month after. Until then take a look at the video interview series right after the jump!

FIFA 08 - Image 1

Electronic Arts Canada is certainly looking serious in its effort  to put together the best installment of its long-running FIFA Soccer franchise, FIFA 08. Eight screenshots have been released and they're looking better than ever.

My, my, aren't those the most realistic legs we've ever seen in a soccer game? The FIFA 08 screenshots below also look very nicely done. As good as the preview graphics are, EA has assured us all that the new and improved gameplay system will be the star of this show. The controls, it says, have been revamped for more precision, and a new 35-point decision engine has been added to make CPU players smarter than ever. Real-time decisions will be made by players you don't control, so watch out for that.

The next-gen consoles are slated to have a new commentator to freshen things up on the audio side. If you still don't know why the world goes ga-ga over this sport, maybe it's time to check FIFA 08 out and see for yourself. These screenshots were taken from the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 versions of the game.

FIFA 08, the premiere soccer sim from EA Sports - Image 1

With so many breaks headed towards so many Australian soccer fans' way, a minor stumbling block seems to have appeared for them in EA Sports upcoming premiere football sim, FIFA 08. It was announced that the five-on-five online play feature in FIFA 08 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 will not be made available for Australian gamers.

The EA Australia representative had this to say regarding the matter:

In regard to playing 5 on 5 in FIFA 08, without a good connection to the server, the result would have been constant drop-offs during Online play that would have booted everyone in the Online Area off at the same time.

As of now, the feature will only be implemented in Europe and the U.S. As a part of Electronic Arts' "Be A Pro: Online Team Play" promotion, this will be available for six to eight weeks upon the game's release. However, the one on one online gameplay will still be available for people in Australia.

Definitely depressing news for those who live in the land down under, but at the very least they get the option to play their very own A-League in the game. FIFA 08 will be released this October for the PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, and DS.
