"Why can't they just let the little yellow guy eat his goddamn cherries?!" That's what a lot of XBLA users have been complaining about regarding the annoying pop-ups that's been... erm... popping up on their screens while playing retro titles Galaga and Pac-Man. A lot of users are getting pissed off with these annoying pop-up notifications that disrupt them while the little yellow guy eats around. Honestly, who would care if your "download's complete" when it's the bonus round already, right? However, don't fret because the said issue has been updated such that the pop-ups now show up only in the right hand corner of the screen. Now you can have uninterrupted fun with the little yellow guy. |

Just like promised three weeks ago and mentioned just a little while ago that it should come out some time today, Namco's Galaga is now available on the Marketplace. The game download is only 15.34MB and features the classic gameplay we've all come to know and love. A few of the downfalls to the game is that the trial version only lets you play until level 3 and there is no 2-player versus mode (where after player 1 dies or beats the level it switched to player 2). The game is only 400 Microsoft Points, so if you want some actual "arcade" action on Xbox Live Arcade, go ahead and check it out on the Marketplace. UPDATE: Yes, Galaga is now up in the Marketplace but witbyt (thanks for the tip!) posted some images of a warning that showed up when he tried to delete the game after download. We're not really sure what to make of these warnings...but if you do encounter the same problems and you have an inkling as to why these warning shows up, let your fellow XBLA users know of it by leaving your comments below.

It's been a few months since Microsoft announced that the classic shoot 'em up Galaga would be heading to Xbox Live Arcade. The game is now celebrating it's 25th year anniversary, a fitting date for a XBLA debut. Still, two and a half decades since Midway put the game into arcades, it remains one of the most collected games today. It was one of the first titles to feature multiple attack patterns by enemies.Obviously, Microsoft has given Galaga a facelift so that it can still be enjoyable in a high-definition resolution. The 250 levels will provide you with enough shooting action for quite a while, and if that's not enough, 12 unique achievements have been designed to keep you playing until the end. You can also earn perfect bonuses and improve your fighter, compete with your highscore on the worldwide leaderboards, or try out the unique Dual Fighter combination attack mode. Finally, original music and sound effects have been designed in order to round out the experience. If everything goes according to plan, you should see Galaga on Xbox Live Arcade today, with a price of 400 points. Happy hunting!

There are 12 achievements worth the usual arcade game amount of 200 gamer points. The achievements range from shooting all enemies in a challenge stage to getting to level 30.
