Epic Games has announced that Gears of War 2 will be having a Double XP weekend starting Friday, May 15, all the way up until Monday. So go on ahead and call up all of your nooby friends and pwn them to dust over the weekend. I mean, that's what friends are for, right?

Sure to raise the People's Eyebrow (pun definitely intended, because The Rock says so)... Movie screenwriter Chris Morgan is eying wrestler-now-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) as someone who can fill in Marcus Fenix's boots for the planned Gears of War movie. Yea, can yooooou smeeeeeeell... what the Fenix is cookin'?!

Remember this rumor? It got the date wrong, but I guess it wasn't such a failure after all. We've just gotten word that yes, the Dark Corners DLC for Gears of War 2 is real and it's heading to the Marketplace this July. Following the report from earlier, we now have screenshots!

A huge update for Gears of War 2 today via press release! First up: some sales milestones. GoW2's already broken through the 5-million mark for worldwide sales, thus bringing overall series sales to 11-million. So to celebrate, Microsoft and Epic Games are announcing the new Dark Corners DLC Map Pack and an accompanying All Fronts Collection add-on retail bundle.

Tick-tocking like cogs in a gear, the Gears of War movie is moving along smoothly. The film hasn't been casted yet, much less the production started on, however, we do get some promising updates at the very least. Screenwriter Chris Morgan give us a status update on New Line Cinema and Epic Games' joint project. They're already talking about budget and how potentially epic this feature length movie can get. "All the stuff you want to see, we put that in there and then we blow it out a little more, even," says he.

Cheaters beware! Microsoft is getting set to cast some epic-scale voodoo on you if you keep right on hacking, glitching, and cheating to get those Gears of War 2 Achievements you're so proud of. If voodoo doesn't scare you off, they'll just whip out the banhammer.

If you want more maps like Snowblind for Gears of War 2, you'd better show your appreciation for it. The game's executive producer says that the specifics for the next DLC will depend on the reaction to the DLC. Details after the link.

Snowblind hasn't even dropped yet and there's already been some rumblings about another new DLC pack for Epic Games' epic Xbox 360 title, Gears of War 2. Grab some salt guys, it's time for another rumor.

Gears of War 2 executive producer Rod Fergusson has revealed that an all-new experience-based ranking system is coming with the game's third title update, acting as a precursor to the upcoming Snowblind map pack. Title Update 3 will also have a new auto-balancing feature that swaps in bots to replace players who drop out in the middle of a match and four new maps. Details after the jump.
