UK will soon be getting their Gears of War heroes fix through the special Delta Squad box set featuring figurines inspired by the Xbox 360 hit game.

Australia's getting a mighty fine bundle from Epic Games in the form of a Gears of War bundle. This was announced by Microsoft Australia, even giving out a June 4th release date for participating retail stores.

Sure to raise the People's Eyebrow (pun definitely intended, because The Rock says so)... Movie screenwriter Chris Morgan is eying wrestler-now-turned-actor Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock) as someone who can fill in Marcus Fenix's boots for the planned Gears of War movie. Yea, can yooooou smeeeeeeell... what the Fenix is cookin'?!

Tick-tocking like cogs in a gear, the Gears of War movie is moving along smoothly. The film hasn't been casted yet, much less the production started on, however, we do get some promising updates at the very least. Screenwriter Chris Morgan give us a status update on New Line Cinema and Epic Games' joint project. They're already talking about budget and how potentially epic this feature length movie can get. "All the stuff you want to see, we put that in there and then we blow it out a little more, even," says he.

Potential blockbuster? Or another candidate for the Uwe Boll awards? (Ok, there's no Uwe Boll awards... but there should be.) Len Wiseman, the director of the Gears of War movie, says he's hoping to make a trilogy, and that he wants them to be a "harder edged Lord of the Rings." More after the link.

The latest out of the rumor mill from EGM has the next and final installation to the Gears of War trilogy pegged for 2010. Though it's not so much a rumor as it is an accepted expectation.

The flow of adaptation is not limited to having books being transformed into movies or videogames, or videogames being turned into movies.
