Prototype - Image 1When apocalyptic havoc threatens to extinguish mankind, the action always has to be in  New York City. How many times have we seen this city in the thick of total devastation? I've lost count. The opening cinematic for Prototype (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) also sees a completely trashed NYC, but you gotta admit, it looks bad-ass.

Xbox 360 Portable...? - Image 1Okay, so it's not Microsoft's response to the PSP, and it's nowhere near handheld size. It's basically a laptop with Xbox 360 features, brought to us by Benjamin Heckenson. It's more of an Xbox 360 laptop, but it's portable nonetheless. It's so great I wanna buy it from him. Check the demo vid in the full article.

Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War - Image 1With an embargo still in place for Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii), several screenshots were recently leaked from the German official Xbox magazine and a couple of European sites. Judging from the screenshots alone, the latest iteration in the  series is definitely shaping up to be another great installment in the long-standing CoD legacy. Xbox Live - Image 1 What would you do if your place doesn't have an internet connection? No internet for your PC or even for your Xbox 360. No Xbox Live. Well this guy went to great lengths to get his fix of the world wide web: he used his phone.

He connected his phone to his PC and gave it an Internet connection. That wasn't enough for him though: he then connected his PC to his Xbox 360 and that worked too. Now both systems have a connection through his phone. Go to the full article for more details.

Team modfreakz made waves yesterday after it showed evidence on how an Xbox 360 can run on a consumer SATA DVD drive with the original BenQ firmware. Now this discovery was first claimed a month ago, which was preceded by another mod using a Hitachi drive, but it was the second video released yesterday that presented proof that Microsoft's Xbox 360 console would run backup games and not compromise Xbox Live access.

Team modfreakz used a Philips DVD drive, a product available for PC users, and utilized the actual firmware from a retail Xbox 360 DVD drive - the BenQ VAD6038. So it's basically a Philips drive running on retail Xbox 360 firmware. Take note that this feat requires no actual modification to the game console, allowing the machine to log in to Xbox Live. Need to see to believe? Watch the video below.

XBLA logo - Image 1

WARNING TO ALL XBOX OWNERS
: There are recent reports of XBox Live subscribers receiving phishing emails, tricking them into sending their important account information - namely their login ID and password for their XBLA accounts. Of course, we all know what happens when a malicious script kiddie gets hold of someone else's account information.

Just so you know, here is an sample of the phishing email that all of you should be aware of:

Subject: Changes To Your Xbox Live Account

From: Xbox Support [support@passport.xbox.com]

Email body: "Dear Xbox Live User, We have made many changes to everyone’s Xbox Live account, and we would like you to check out the new features! You can check out the new features by click on the link below to login and check them out! Please check out your new features to your Xbox Live account!

https://www.xbox.com/signin/"

Clicking the link at the end of the email will lead to a phishing replica of the actual Passport login page. But don't be fooled, instead of letting you log into your account, its just going to steal your login IDs and passwords.

A useful rule of thumb is to never, EVER, log in through any emails or links sent by email. Make sure you only log in through the real site only, by checking the URL of the site before you enter your information.
