Can't get enough of your Halo collectibles? Then you're just right in time cos Tor Books has announced that the Halo: Evolutions story collection is coming your way soon. As the name suggests, it is a collection of short stories from Halo novelists.

Spielberg dipping his hands into the golden Halo franchise? Not entirely surprising, and according to film site IESB, "solid and confirmed three times over with studio executives and close ties to CAA". That's right, the man behind the epic movies Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Transformers would like to be a part of the Master Chiefs battles against the covenant, in the full glory of the big Silver.

Back in February 2008, Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford said that he was directing a new project that was as big as a project can get. Somehow, that statement got turned into a rumor that Gearbox was working on a Halo game. Yeah, I'm not sure how that line of thinking started, but in any case, Microsoft has flat out denied it.

Those who count themselves among the top in the Halo Wars leaderboards may have found themselves screaming a la Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. Microsoft has confirmed: "An Xbox Live technical issue wiped all Halo Wars Xbox Live Leaderboards earlier today."

Halo is going the Matrix route with the announcement of an Animatrix-like animated project called "Halo Legends," a collection of several original anime short films from some heavyweight anime companies. More in the full article.

The latest DLC for Halo Wars is now available for download. Microsoft and Robot Entertainment has released the Historical Battle Map Pack game add-on for the best selling real-time strategy game for the Xbox 360.

Fans of the RTS installment in the Halo franchise, Halo Wars, will be glad to know that they're gonna get more out of the game thanks to the upcoming Historic Battle DLC, recently announced by Microsoft and Robot Entertainment. This new add-on pack will add new maps and new Achievements to add more hours of strategic warfare into the game. Hit the link for more info.

The next patch for Ensemble Studios' Halo Wars is about to roll out in a couple more weeks, and pretty quickly too, considering that this will be the third update for the game in a mere three months. Their official website has listed the changes for this latest update, and once again, it includes balance changes, as well as a few bug fixes to get rid of exploits. Patch list after the jump.

Robot Entertainment has been getting some flak recently for supposedly releasing unlocks instead of actual new content for Halo Wars. The Strategic Options DLC's small file size (2MB) led to the unlock accusation. The usual story, really. Dave Pottinger, the game's lead designer, however, says it ain't so.

Halo Wars just got more intense as the Strategic Options DLC launches today on the XBL. Strategic Options is the first game add-on for Halo Wars, introducing with it new ways to compete that will surely test the creativity of strategy-makers.
