Pro Evolution Soccer is the first stop for many when they need their football fix, and for a good reason. From the humble beginnings of Winning Eleven, Konami Digital is now ready to explode with Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, PSP, DS) which should sell to all football fans. If you've been an avid fan, these screenshots that seem to be from Pro Evolution Soccer 2008's versions on more powerful platforms (PS3, 360, PC) are sure to catch your attention. It's quite pleasing to see that even commoners look good. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 never really pushed for eye-candy if it would make gameplay suffer, but this upcoming installment of the video game more than satisfies. We also get a good glimpse at the different menus and options available in-game. Being a manager may actually get a lot tougher this time around, since the players can complain if you work them too hard. |

Okay, so we do have a larger landmass, cuter-looking girls, and milk sold in kegs, but that doesn't mean we get anything THIS special for the Lunar New Year. According to Siliconera, Microsoft's Taiwanese branch must be really doing well for their gamers to get these sweet little boar-enhanced XBox 360 bundles. Not just one, even, but two of them. The blue bundle is made for racing fans. If you shell out the equivalent of US$ 45, you'll actually pick up both Ridge Racer 6 and Project Gotham Racing 3. The red bundle, at the same price, gives you a Dead or Alive double bill, with Team Ninja's and Dead or Alive 4 and DoAX2 as your rightful prizes. The only problem: these bundles aren't region free, so you'll have to contend with bargain hunting on your own good time, wherever you happen to be. |

Try as you might, there is no stopping the beast. Especially if the beast resides in your shadow. A Japanese blog claims that preorders for the limited edition bundle of Blue Dragon disappeared from our world map faster than the preorders for the PS3 did. Specifically, all the pre-orders were gone within five minutes. That might be an exaggeration in itself, depending on how many preorders of Mistwalker's Blue Dragon were given in total compared to the number of available PS3 units for preorder. However, you can't ignore the fact that for an Xbox 360 RPG to sell out on pre-orders that quickly, it must have a dedicated fan base in Japan (or at least a lot of folks who want to import it). Despite lower than expected sales, it brings good cheer to know that the names Akira Toriyama, Nobuo Uematsu, and Hironobu Sakaguchi can always bring in the gamers. You also can't go wrong with a dragon on your side, or inside, as the case may be. Until it actually comes out in America and elsewhere, you'll just have to make do with information from Japan. On the bright side, they have the weirdest game commercials, such as this one: |

Don't let the zombies distract you from what's really important here. You have to kill them, remember? Just be lucky that you're controlling a bikini-clad cowgirl with a katana who's good at what she does. |

With over 10 million downloads, XBox Live Arcade is really keeping people interested in their consoles. Allowing you to download your own bits of nostalgia and demo content adds to the replay factor of the console, but this certainly isn't the end of the development process. According to Greg Canessa, head of Microsoft's XBLA, there are a bunch of ideas in the works, with the introduction of Fatal Fury Special for XBLA being the first of many. To drum up more support in Asia for the XBox 360, they're trying to get additional Japanese game devs to offer their games or make new ones for Japanese consumers to download. In addition to Yie Ar Kung Fu as an Asia-specific title, they're hoping to get something along the lines of Shogi (Japanese chess, basically) as well as Q Entertainment's Lumines Live as downloadable content. There's also been talk of an online "imports" section, where players can download untranslated Japanese games for them to try out. Quirky titles that normally wouldn't see the light of day in Europe and America would thus be available for niche gamers who don't mind not understanding what they're doing if it means playing something they've always wanted to. In two words, "dating sims." Canessa also thinks that XNA will definitely be able to augment XBLA in the future once they can create and fully customize their own games for the 360. Since user-generated content is all the rage these days, it seems like a safe bet that things are looking up for XBLA's future on the market. |

Here's a trailer for Fuzion Frenzy 2 for the Xbox 360 from Hudson Soft. This is a "party game" set in space that combines arcade action, mini-games, tournaments, and custom games. Needless to say (so we'll say it anyway), multiplayer on Xbox Live is a big part of this game. Here's a quick rundown of its features:

Ubisoft signed a licensing agreement with VIS Media to develop video games based on the hit anime Naruto for the Xbox 360. Scheduled for release in 2007, Shonen Jump Naruto will be Ubisoft's first game ever based on a Japanese property. Naruto's martial arts and ninja skills are perfect for video games, says Ubi, and they really hope to bring out the power and action by building on the story as well. Starting off as a ninja-in-training, Naruto will learn the importance of friendship, teamwork, ingenuity, and other honorable characteristics in order to succeed in the ninja world. Naruto has undoubtedly been popular worldwide, so this game won't appeal just to the Japanese crowd. It'll be interesting to see how this one develops seeing as it's Ubi's first Japanese project. |
