Infinite Undiscovery requires multiple discs, according to TGS report - Image 1Apparently, another upcoming larger-than-life Xbox 360 title's going to be a little too large for one normal-sized DVD.

A recent interview with Infinite Undiscovery's Hiroshi Ogawa (director) and Hajime Kojima (producer) over at the ongoing TGS 2007 indicates that the game will require multiple discs, although it was not clear as to exactly how many would be needed.

The pair also indicates that the game is expected to span between 30 to 40 hours of play. Given that Infinite Undiscovery's reportedly far from complete (but already looking pretty good), we advise readers to treat this last detail with a bit of speculation.

Aside from Square Enix's Infinite Undiscovery, Mistwalker's Lost Odyssey has also been reported as another multi-disc title, coming in at 4 DVDs. Prior to these two, Microsoft's Blue Dragon came in at three discs.

TGS 07: Square Enix's Infinite Discovery first trailer video - Image 1The Xbox 360 video game title Infinite Undiscovery from Square Enix and Tri-Ace is one of the heavily guarded WIP projects. We first learned about this some time during Q3 of 2006 and it is only now that details are beginning to surface.

Infinite Undiscovery
then finally revealed itself at the on-going Tokyo Game Show 07. We have here the trailer video shown at the said show and even though the game is still far from being complete, the graphics and the gameplay mechanics are already awesome.

The game involves a case of mistaken identity between the legendary hero of the Resistance Army Sigmunt and the healer flute player Capel. It was said that Infinite Undiscovery is the culmination of a 10-year worth of ideas from video game programmer Yoshiharu Gotanda. The said programmer is credited for the first Tales game, SNES' Tales of Phantasia.

Infinite Undiscovery - Image 1

A few more details about Tri-Ace's Infinite Undiscovery have come to light courtesy of Microsoft's pre-Tokyo Game Show conference. The said conference featured the first official trailer for the game.

The main protagonist, Capel, has a semi-El Mariachi vibe going on: he's a a flute player and healer who looks just like the legendary hero Sigmunt. A case of mistaken identity ends up in Capel being thrown in jail by the Sealed Army. The heroine, Aya, who is a member of the Resistance Army, tries to rescue him without knowing that Capel isn't really the legendary hero.

The battles in Infinite Undiscovery will reportedly be in real time. Encountering enemies will trigger the seamless transition between exploration and the battle screen. The game will be showcased at the Square Enix booth during TGS 2007. Keep checking back here for more updates.
