Need for Speed: ProStreet from Electronic Arts - Image 1Electronic Arts recently announced that it regretted having a porn promotion for Need for Speed: ProStreet "slip through the proper EA approval process." This was with regard to a topless photo shoot featured in Page 3.com - the official softcore porn site of The Sun, a UK tabloid - to promote the game.

The game was already released last November 14 in the US. More in the full article.

With Electronics Arts winding up for the release of its latest arcade style racing game with Need for Speed: ProStreet, the promoters from the gaming company delivers to us an exclusive TV spot advertisement for the game.

The commercial encompasses all the hyped up game features that the developers from EA Black Box has been talking about for the past few months. New features such as the advanced damage modeling, customizable body parts autosculpting are just some of the features that add to this intense racing game's strong following.

While the game doesn't exactly feature those two drivers you'll see in the video, the game might as well have been sliced from real life, seeing as how the visuals really bring life to the game. Need for Speed: ProStreet is due to be released this November 14 in North America on the PC, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii and DS.

Anyway, enjoy the video we have on this great game and remember, leave the driving to the professionals.

NFS ProStreet banner - Image 1

The QJ.NET staff just took a spin with Electronic Arts' upcoming multi-platform racer Need For Speed: ProStreet (also for Sony PlayStation 3, PC) by downloading its Microsoft Xbox 360 demo version via the Xbox Live MarketPlace. What we found was a true-blue next-generation speedster with a promise of adding a brand new dimension to a franchise loved by many in its many iterations.

This blogger put on his amateur virtual driving shoes with Need For Speed franchise veterans Nicolo S. and Ryan C. and together, we came up with some diverse early takes on what should be a worthy member of EA's automotive stable. Let's dissect it:

Little things count big

Let's be honest here: It's hard not to place graphics as the first thing you scrutinize every time you first get your hands on a racing title. Being the normal gamers that we are, that's exactly what we did. The first thing we noticed was the work that EA Canada did on the course's environment. The Nevada Highway's otherwise dry terrain might have been boring for all intents and purposes because, well, deserts just aren't the most rocking places to be in. However, the track had just enough pizazz in it to avoid looking bland and at the same time, steer clear of being overly-decorated for what should be a quasi-wasteland.

Basically, we can't use the word "spectacular" to describe the terrain, the road, the posts, and the sky, but we do say that they're just fine as they are. Everyone agreed with Nicolo's observation that it was very nice to see objects not popping from the distant horizon even when you jack the nitro up, emphasizing the fine-tuned draw rate of Need For Speed: ProStreet. Subtle touches like reflections on cars, as Ryan pointed out, create the impression that attention to detail was indeed given premium by EA Canada.

Need For Speed ProStreet by Electronic Arts is easily among the most anticipated racing games currently in development for the Sony PlayStation 3, Windows PC, Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft Xbox 360. Genre fans have come to expect a lofty level of sizzle and steak from the Need For Speed franchise, and it looks like Need For Speed ProStreet won't disappoint. Have a look as the devs discuss the Speed Challenge aspect of the game:

As you've probably heard in this Need For Speed ProStreet video interview, Speed Challenge isn't about pushing the pedal to the floor and having your car's engine belt out noises like a banshee. It's also not about driving with more attitude than everyone else on the track. It's about maintaining your concentration in popular freeways for 20 miles at a time, all the while keeping up a steady dial on the speedometer.

One false move in Need For Speed ProStreet's Speed Challenge could mean the difference between a record speed and an outright disaster. The damage system in Need For Speed ProStreet is touted by EA as one of the most accurate in the business, so that should mean you'll be crawling at turtle pace after a bad crash. Keep it with QJ for more updates.
