Here's something none of us saw coming - a Postal III (Xbox 360, PC, Mac) gameplay video in all its violent, uncensored glory. Yes, it seems that Running With Scissors is up to their old antics again, and we can't say we're not pleased with this fortunate turn of events. After all, the first two Postals, while uncompromisingly violent and brutal, were very solid and playable as first person shooters, as well as being a sort of a guilty pleasure.
Looking at the video, it seems that the jump's been made from first person to third, the camera tracking the currently-unknown trenchcoated character from behind. The visuals are looking very sharp, the environments (as well as the characters) chock-full of details. There's also more interactivity with the scenery as well, as we see the player shoot out some bottles from behind a bar, a car's front tire, and some of the slum's inhabitants. We also get to see a rather interesting weapon of what appears to be some sort of wild animal you can set on your victims. Not quite sure what animal it actually is, but it definitely does the job. Enough spoilers from us, enjoy the video! |

Video game development studio Running With Scissors (RWS) has a reputation for making bloody and gore-marred titles. One good testament to this is the Postal franchise with the first game being released ten years ago. Speaking of which, RWS just released three new screenshots for Postal 3. Quite curiously, these images are nothing more but teasers. The blood and gore that we mentioned above cannot be seen in these screenshots. Instead, what we have here are snapshots of the new title's locations. To be quite honest, we were kind of expecting to see what Mr. The Postal Dude Jr. looks like today. For those not familiar with this series, Postal follows the exploits of Postal Dude after he was evicted from his house. The game itself is a 2D shooter, mainly isometric, but with some top-down levels. Backgrounds are hand painted and the game also borrows some characteristics from the FPS genre. But just the same, it's good to know that development for Postal 3 is moving along. RWS said that the game will be released some time in 2008 on platforms Xbox 360, Games for Windows (PC), and Mac OS. |

It's been quite a while since Postal first hit game store shelves - ten long years, in fact. And game developer Running With Scissors is celebrating exactly that: a whole decade of blood and carnage and gas can-inspired pyromania courtesy of the Postal Dude himself. A decade doesn't really seem much, of course. No gamer could easily forget a game where, as the Postal Dude, you were given free reign to destroy anything and everything in sight, with an array of weapons ranging from a grenade launcher to the fan-favorite gas can. But the developing company wants to let the fans know they appreciate the love and support they've received, and are still receiving. "THANK YOU to all our fans, to gamers of all ages and genres, and to all those that wish we'd go away - RWS has no regrets," said Vince Desi, Running With Scissors CEO. "Over the past ten years many a fan has walked in the shoes of the Postal Dude and, most importantly, enjoyed every step of the gameplay." It's not easy to be the company behind the ultra-violent Postal, what with today's school tragedies involving guns and shooting sprees being blamed on videogames. But with a loyal fanbase which has sprouted its own community, top-ranked gaming mods and secondary franchises over the year (as well as an Uwe Boll movie on the way), it's also not hard to be excited about RWS' future ventures. Need we also mention that RWS is already knee-deep in the development of the third game in the series, Postal 3, which will be barging into Xbox 360 and PC/Mac come 2008? Time to fill up that gas can, Postal Dude. |

While I was growing up, I had a friend that never wanted half measures. According to her, it's either you do it or you don't. And if you do, she would always add, take it to the level of the absurd. I haven't quite figure out yet whatever she meant by that.Anyway, the phrase "take it to the level of the absurd" always comes to my mind whenever I am reminded of developer Running With Scissors (RWS) and their highly controversial series Postal. The game was actually just a shooter in which the objective was, well, kill every human being. Last October, RWS announced that the series is finally going next-gen by 2008 and not a day before. While that is still roughly two years from now, RWS already had its hands full with the release of its music CD "Music To Go Postal By." As the title implies, the collection is inspired by the series so expect it to be classic yet nontraditional, not to mention absurd. Don't get what I mean? Imagine this: The sound of rapid fire gun mixed with a melancholic shriek of a human being in pain, then the persistent musicality of boomerang machetes in flight. Add to that piano and guitar and cello. Hmmm... "It was purely the result of long-time fan demand and an interest on the part of musicians from around the world who were musically inspired by our games," shares RWS conductor Vince Desi. "Music To Go Postal By" is currently available at the RWS Store for only US$ 10. And oh, about my friend, she is fine. She didn't go postal, thankfully. Not a bit. |

Running With Scissors (RWS) have today announced that they will be bringing a new game to the Xbox 360 and PC called Postal 3. Postal 3 is a sequel to the long-running Postal series which was originally released almost a decade ago. Postal is an odd title that doesn't really fit into a category easily. Postal is a first person shooter with attitude and a bit of dark comedy mixed in, and Postal 3 is certainly going to give you a different feel to what you expect from your average FPS title. "We started this series back in 1997," recalled RWS CEO Vince Desi, "and while the franchise has grown into an international computer game sensation during that time, it has always been our goal to bring it to the videogame console marketplace. For many years I've been asked by gamers around the world when Postal will appear on console. I'm so proud to be able to answer our fans' prayers." Postal 3 will include an array of performances by well-known celebrities digitally captured for use in the game, mimicking their exact movements for a realistic experience. The Running with Scissors team have teamed up with Akella to produce a high quality title for the 360 and all those Half Life 2 fans out there will be pleased to hear that Postal 3 will be using Valve's amazing Source engine to rocket Postal 3 into the gaming charts. As you can see from the above screenshot of Postal 2, the similarities between Postal and Half Life are quite visible. The only downside to this game is that it is scheduled for a 2008 release, so you have just under two years to wait until you can get your hands on it! |
