Rage - Image 1 "Monster closets" are spawn points that only activate when certain trigger points are reached in a game. This system, while quite surprising and scary the first time but almost always becomes repetitive and very easy to anticipate in subsequent playthroughs, was one of the major criticisms laid against Doom 3. For the upcoming Rage, id Software is making a point of avoiding the monster closet system altogether.

Rage - Image 1Yesterday we reported about some framerate issues dogging the PS3 version of id Software's upcoming multiplatform title, Rage. Rage - Image 1 Last year, id Software generated some... rage for the shooter/racer hybrid Rage when the issue of the Xbox 360 version being gimped due to the lack of disk space cropped up. id has since clarified that the decision to split Rage's 360 version over two discs hasn't gimped it in any way. But why only two? They would have been able to fit in more textures if they went with three DVDs, right? Perhaps, but id co-founder John Carmack says that the nature of the game doesn't allow for it to be spread across three DVDs.

Rage - Image 1A few hours ago, we reported that according to id Software's Tim Willits, the 6 to 8 GB data capacity of the Xbox 360 has significantly hindered the Rage (PC, PS3, Xbox 360) team from putting in content which they have originally intended. Apparently, that wasn't what he meant and no cuts were made to the game. More after the jump.
