Oh, before we move on to the lists, here's a short reminder from the Major: Remember, UU's is the number of Gamertags that have played a game. In the case of Arcade titles, that list is ranked by purchased games. That is why the Arcade titles may be ranked out of order on the top list. Some Arcade titles may be purchased by one Gamertag, but played by multiple Gamertags. 2006 Top Xbox 360 Titles (UU's)

We all know Akuma as the secret character and hidden boss in Super Street Fighter II Turbo, that probably had you begging for your mommy. He sports fire engine red hair, prayer beads around his neck and the Japanese character "ten" meaning "heaven" printed on his gi.But on the contrary, did you know that Akuma is a Japanese character that means Devil. There was even an incident in Japan in 1994 where parents wanted to register their son as "Akuma" but got denied by city authorities. That's how notorious this name is. This is probably the only Akuma related thing that has his devilish charms but isn't all that bad. The Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting Akuma theme and picture pack is now available in the Marketplace. The theme is for 150 points while the picture pack is worth a 100. Unfortunately, the content is not available for fellow gamers in Asia. |

We've been watching YouTube for a long time. We've sourced a lot of good gaming videos there, some cool, others bad. But nonetheless, there's got to be a Top 3 of the best, right? Well, here they are! #3: Cute Korean Girls DDR Backwards! #2: Surviving the Most Insane Shoot 'em Ups! DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou #1: Professional Gaming's Most Inspiring Moment So Far Never count a good player down. Ever. In a semi-finals match at the 1998 Capcom Street Fighter Alpha 3 global tournament, the world-famous Daigo Umehara, using Ken, performs a miracle by blocking all 16 of his opponent's special moves and then making his own in order to produce the most breath-taking comeback you'll ever see. All the more since Daigo's health bar was nearly empty - and since he was squaring off against no less than Justin Wong. You have to see this one to believe it. |

All you have to do is look for an opponent in quick match. Once it finds an opponent for you and starts the 5-second timer, press the "Xbox Guide" button. Hit the button again when the select screen pops up and you're good to go.If you guys try this out, please inform us if it works for you or not. We'd appreciate it. Enjoy the fights! |

Yesterday, Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting for the Xbox Live Arcade became the fastest selling downloadable title yet. Since its release on Wednesday August 2, it proves to a degree that the lures of cutting-edge graphics can't completely overpower the urge for old-school retro gaming. Charles Bellfield, Capcom's VP of marketing, had this to say: "We are elated by the tremendous response Xbox Live users have given Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting as players around the world vie to be on top of the game's numerous leaderboards. It'll be exciting to see who ranks number one on Xbox Live Arcade after the first weekend of gamers playing the greatest arcade title in history." If you're planning to download this game and play, expect to see a whole lot of Hadokens and Hundred Hand Slaps coming your way. Some people have reported that the game's AI is pretty devious (some prefer using the word "cheap") and the difficulty level is by most accounts arcade accurate, so you guys better start brushing up all your Street Fighter moves. But still, all that stuff just adds to the satisfaction when you finally beat your opponent down to a pulp, right? |

Three new picture packs and a theme have hit the Marketplace for all you Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting addicts. The new content comes in the form of Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li Picture Packs, with each one containing four pictures of the said character art from different Street Fighter or Capcom titles. Each of these packs costs 100 Microsoft Points. Here's an interesting info: there's a Fan Appreciation Theme which is supposed to be composed of four rare Street Fighter wallpapers in a single theme for "the fans." Strangely enough, they're charging 150 Microsoft Points for this. But if you want to decorate your dashboard with Street Fighter art anyway or you just want to get a different picture of Ryu from everyone else on Live, go ahead and check out the downloads on the Marketplace. |

August 2 brings about one of the most anticipated games of the summer to hit Xbox Live Arcade Marketplace - Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting. This Capcom old-school classic, goes back to its roots with a retro feel and, for the first time, multiplayer action that has both ranked and player matches. With the power of the Xbox 360, SFII also includes new content specifically designed for Xbox Live Arcade as well as HD video resolution, achievements, leaderboards that keep track of the overall and monthly best players using a point-based system, fully customizable controls and the all new innovative "Quarter Match" which allows online competitors to use a "virtual quarter" to buy into a heated 2-player match. Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting will be available starting today, August 2 at 1am PST on Xbox Live Arcade. |

After much bickering and whining from the gaming community because of expected demos like Prey and unknown release dates for XBLA games like Street Fighter II, Major Nelson finally tried to explain why release dates keep missing the mark. Basically, releasing something for the PC is much simpler than having your content approved for the Xbox Live Marketplace. There are many departments and processes that the Marketplace and Arcade content pass through before the content becomes available to gamers everywhere, and Major Nelson only knows about such releases once they are "locked, loaded and on [their] way to the Marketplace." People promising content by a certain date usually aren't fully aware of all the steps it takes for Marketplace approval, and because of this release dates are often missed. In the mean time, keep checking back here for all of your Xbox 360 updates, and although you might be bummed if a demo is late, whining won't make it come any sooner. |

With the recent release of the Street Fighter II theme and picture packs many people finally believed Capcom would unexpectedly release Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting for Xbox Live Arcade, but it looks like they will do no such thing as Capcom told 1UP this morning
that Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting will not randomly show up on
Xbox Live; they will be announcing a release date, "but no, not yet." Many games have come out on the Arcade without any signs what so ever other than just randomly becoming available on the Marketplace, but it looks like there will be an official release date set before it arrives. When more news becomes available for the release date we'll be sure to keep you informed. |

Five days ago we showed you a preview video for Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
that had a few two-round fights and went through the achievements list,
but today we have a full tour of the game thanks to
GameVideos.com. The video goes through arcade mode and goes through all
of the items in the menu when the game is paused. The video then goes
through training mode where there seems to be an option included wherein you can record
yourself doing "tiger uppercuts" all day long. Unlike the last video
this one showcases the Xbox Live mode showing off a fight taking
place online. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for this, but if
the magazine scan with the upcoming Arcade Games prices is correct, at
least it will only cost 400 Microsoft Points. Go ahead and check out
the full tour video above to see more of Street Fighter II in action.
