The Darkness - Image 1At the New York Comic-Con last year, Top Cow Productions teased gamers with the possibility that the follow-up to their shooter, The Darkness (PS3 and Xbox 360), is in the works. But we didn't hear anything from them regarding this for a while (15 long months to be exact), until this year's Comic-Con, that is.

Video game rumors: Cloverfield game, Darkness sequel, Assassin's Creed movie, Capcom working on Spyborgs - Image 1In the latest issue of the UK Official PlayStation Magazine (the same one that gave Metal Gear Solid 4 a solid 10 rating), they dished out some rumors that, if true, hint at good times ahead. They have rumors of an Assassin's Creed movie in the works, a Cloverfield game, and even the setting for the Uncharted sequel. Check them all out and more in the full article.

The Darkness - Image 1Enjoyed 2K Games and Starbreeze Studios' The Darkness (for the PS3 and Xbox 360)? Word is out that Starbreeze is hard at work for Jackie Estacado's second video game adventure, but 2K Games is squashing this as mere rumor. More details in the full article.

Free The Darkness demo at XBL Marketplace - Image 1To those who've yet to secure a copy of the video game The Darkness (PS3 and 360), this is your chance to try it without shelling out a single penny. A free demo of the title has just gone live over at Xbox Live Marketplace.

Before downloading, be sure that you have some space because it's approximately around 1.27GB in size. Quite unfortunately, the said demo will not be available in Asia and Germany. It should be remembered that The Darkness was recently banned in Singapore.

Likewise, it was reported that the German version of the title will have a lot of cuts that will, needless to say, definitely affect the overall gameplay experience. Despite these issues, The Darkness continues to do good in the market, recently topping the Most Wanted charts of GameFly for the third time.

The title was co-developed by 2K Games and Starbreeze Studios.

Australian and UK editions of The Darkness exclusive content - Image 1If you've been playing The Darkness, you'll probably be wanting to unlock every little thing in the game. If that's the case, here's a little tidbit you may not have heard yet.

Apparently, you can dress up your Berserker Darkling in a Golf get-up. Dress him up and explain to your friends why your Darkling has anger issues, he was beaten by Tiger Woods or something like that. Anyway, to get the costume, dial the phone number 555-5664 on a phone in-game and watch the hilarity begin.

So there you have it, a new tip that should make playing the game more fun, which I honestly thought was impossible after trying the game out a bit. I wonder if there are any other phone numbers that would unlock stuff in the game? Hopefully, there are even more unlockable costumes like a football helmet for a darkling, or even a silver jumpsuit like Mini-me.

The Darkness - Image 1Singaporean gamers may want to let out their collective groan of frustration now. Local Singaporean censorship has deemed The Darkness as being too violent, and has banned the game from being sold locally. The news came from 2K Games' own games distributor, New Era, and this bit of information cannot be pegged as mere rumor.

Grand Theft Auto 4 may be prohibited from the city-state's shores as well, similar to GTA: San Andreas. There are also rumors of Bioshock getting banned as well for having "excessive violence".

This will count as yet another hit for game developer Take-Two Interactive. Will another country reject any of the company's upcoming games as well? If so, how well will Take-Two cope with its seemingly unending crisis? Only time will tell.

The Darkness - Image 1

The Xbox 360 console is definitely enjoying GameFly's spotlight lately, as Darkness takes center stage for the third time in the rental company's most requested released and to-be-released games chart ending July 2. Carried along (by imps) in second place for the week is Overlord, with third place going to Transformers: The Game. Transformers replaces DiRT for this post.

Resident Evil 4 retains its top rank from last week for the Wii games, as does Ninja Gaiden Sigma for the PlayStation 3, Sim City DS for the DS, and Final Fantasy: Anniversary Edition for the PSP. On an interesting note, Lumines makes its appearance for the PSP's top five. We can only assume that this is connected to the recent exploit discovered by the Noobz team, which dramatically boosted sales for this said game.
  • Xbox 360
    1. Darkness (Take Two)
    2. Overlord (Codemasters)
    3. Transformers (Activision)
    4. The Bigs (Take Two)
    5. DiRT (Codemasters)
  • Wii
    1. Resident Evil 4 (Capcom)
    2. Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree (Nintendo)
    3. Pokemon Battle Revolution (Nintendo)
    4. Mario Party 8 (Nintendo)
    5. Mario Strikers Charged (Nintendo)
  • PlayStation 3
    1. Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Tecmo)
    2. Darkness (Take Two)
    3. Transformers (Activision)
    4. Rainbow Six: Vegas (Ubisoft)
    5. The Bigs (Take Two)

The Darkness - Image 1

We're sure this is one video game you don't want to miss: It's The Darkness from 2K Games and Starbreeze Studios. In case you haven't purchased The Darkness (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) yet or you live in Europe, here's another treat for you. We found a video of The Darkness powers players will be able to wield in the game.

We're warning you though, the video might contain spoilers. In the video, we see more heart-munching action, plus some creeping dark action with the Maw Tentacles. We also see how to wreak havoc with the Dark Tentacles-slash-Demon Arm which allow Jackie to throw cars around - yep, cars.

The video also shows the Darkness guns that Jackie uses (maybe they can rival Dante's Ebony and Ivory guns). Anyway, we won't spoil the entire video for you. So, just click on Full Article to watch the video. Enjoy!

The Darkness looms over UK on Xbox 360 first - Image 1

After a timely release on North American shores, Take-Two Interactive's The Darkness has shipped to the UK, as promised, but will be available for the Xbox 360 first. The PlayStation 3 version is set for release on July 20, goes the official announcement, and should feature more video content for in-game television.

"The Darkness takes the first-person action video game to new depths on both a visual and a gameplay level and brings the graphic novel to grisly new life," said 2K president Christoph Hartmann. "The Darkness" comics was authored by Paul Jenkins and published by Top Cow Productions, known for their novelty published title "Witchblade."

Marc Silvestri, founder of Top Cow Productions, said, "Since [Top Cow, 2K, and Starbreeze Studios] have all worked very closely on this project, fans of the comic book will be pleased with how accurately and effectively it comes to life as an incredibly visceral and enjoyable video game."

The game is still rated M for Mature, although no announcement of BBFC's own rating for the game has been made. Suggested retail price was also a no-show in the follow up announcement.
