Our gaming lads over at the UK who want some GRAW action are in luck: website Britxbox will be holding the 2007 Community Day in association with Warfighters. This isn't your usual Xbox get together, participants will be running around in full gear as they bring the famous Tom Clancy game to life. For those not in the know, Warfighters is a place where you can gear up with GRAW equipment and play as an operative. Teams battle it out to complete missions and scenarios in a very realistic combat setting. The fragging day will cost £ 49.99 (around US$ 98). That much would equip you with these:
To avoid spending the rest of the game doing nothing when you "die" early, the medic system called Medi-Mag is there to extend your life. When you get shot, you have 10 minutes before bleeding to death. Just load up the Medi-Mag to replace ammo, and you'll get a 50% HP boost per charge. Each Medi-Mag contains four charges. The big day happens on August 31st at at Willoughby near Rugby in Warwickshire. Event will be from 9:30am to 4:30pm, so make sure you have the energy. From Warfighters' Dave Thatcher, “Prepare for a challenging day of GRAW like missions and team objectives that will test your online gaming skills in the real world to the max!” |

The Best Buy online store has an ongoing deal at their site that gamers may want to take advantage of. First is a discount on Blizzard Entertainment's highly popular World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade, while the second is for GRAW on the Xbox 360.Originally priced for US$ 39.99 when it was first launched in January, TBC is currently priced at US$ 29.99 over at the Best Buy site - guys who have not yet gotten the latest WoW expansion may want to take advantage of this offer. Meanwhile, for the Xbox 360 owners, we have a Best Buy deal going down for Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter game. The site currently lists GRAW at US$19.99, which should be a reasonable price for the guys who have yet to try out one of the 360's memorable FPS titles. That's it for now, and there should be more coming up, so remember to drop by once in a while in case we find more gaming deals for you guys. |

I'm gonna have to agree with my fellow blogger Mabie A. in saying that it is never too late to follow tips and suggestions for sprucing up your Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter gameplay. Though we know this game from Ubisoft has been out for quite a while now and most of you are looking forward to GRAW 2 (PSP, PC, Xbox360, PS3) already, we thought some of you guys might still find this vid handy.
If you've already loaded up on map tips from the video we brought you before, the one we have right now will fill you in on how you can make the most out of the multiplayer options in the game. Listen in on Christian Allen, lead multiplayer designer for GRAW, as he talks about the various multiplayer modes and customization options offered in the game. From map selection to identity setup to customization - he goes through them all! So anyway, if you do want to know more about these multiplayer modes and options (in case you still haven't gotten the hang of all that), just click on the play button, sit back, and enjoy the vid. You never know, he might be able to reveal something you haven't discovered yet. *winks* |

It's never really too late to get hints, tips and strategies, especially if it's for a game as strategy-intensive as Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter.
This video we have for you right here gives you exactly all those three essentials for the multiplayer mode. Although you may feel like you're playing it like a pro already, still, it doesn't hurt to learn a few more tricks from the pros, particularly, the official game's testers. Anyhow, discussed here are the adversarial map strats, particularly, the Treasury and Nowhere map. Helpful indeed are the hints. And if you've just been recently introduced to the game, this will definitely give you a good headstart. So watch, learn, enjoy. |

Fresh from good sales performances in the first half of this fiscal year, Ubisoft also took the time to confirm that there indeed is a sequel to Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, reports IGN. This should please fans of the tactical squad shooter series: Ubisoft's looking to a first quarter 2007 release - anytime before March! But as these shadow assassins gear up for their next mission on whatever platforms GRAW 2 will be released to, another assassin must stay in the shadows a bit longer, and another group of soldiers continue to await their command to attack. With GRAW 2 taking up the Q1 2007 calendar, Ubisoft pushed the release of Assassin's Creed and Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway to the next fiscal year, which begins April 2007. So if you've been eagerly waiting, even dying for both games, well, you'll have to hold out a bit longer. They were originally scheduled for release in early 2007. At least Ubisoft can feel more confident about taking the #2 slot now. |

Tom Salta

In our book, Tom Salta is a minor god and one of the Lords of Gaming. For example, the Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter "Main Theme" is perfect for the game; when you hear it, your first guess is "ah, this music is for an action movie from Jerry Bruckheimer."Our point is Tom Salta's music fits the game's genre. And his music is populist - it's for we the people (and not for some snobby musical elite) because it's composed of the patterns, sounds, and instruments that we, the movie-watching common folk, expect to hear for the genre we're playing or watching. And then he adds a few unique touches. And you go away moved. In other words, he gives a game that "big screen movie" feel. And this isn't empty hype or hero-worship on our part. You might remember the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards where Ghost Recon was nominated for Best Video Game Score. Look at what he has for Ghost Recon and Red Steel. Ghost Recon's "Main Theme" we already covered in that "gosh, Tom Salta makes me wet my pants" opening paragraph above, so we'll move on to Red Steel. "Katana" (Choir Theme) Words cannot explain what this music sounds like. Amazing. We're listening to it right now and I can't resist trying to slice through our Patrick Star stuffed toy with a plastic ruler. Classic Japanese sounds (reminds the QJ anime geeks of "Ghost in the Shell"). The dynamic movements and the dissonance between the orchestra and the choir and the percussion... We have to invent a word: ninjorgiastic! Heavy Theme Head-banging might affect your gameplay. This music grabs you by the gut and *twists* it. J-Pop Theme I personally found this mediocre. That's not to say it's bad. Most of us liked the sound of "Katana" better, and as J-Pop goes, we've heard better. I can't find the QJ writers who are serious J-Pop fans (they're probably out having fun and having a life), so I guess you'll have to take my one opinion as the truth. Hehe. Or you can listen to it at his website and tell me I'm wrong. Do you think Red Steel is a contender for the 2007 Best Video Game Score award? Comment and discuss below! |

Victor the Explorer? Nah, too wussy. Victor the Crack Shot? Sounds cool, but people might think I'm doing drugs. I think I'll settle for Victor the Victor. While Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (GRAW) has been out for a while, there are plenty of people who love to play the game. Of course, not everyone wants to pay for all those Xbox Live upgrades, so Red Storm and Ubisoft have decided to give us a minor freebie. In addition to stability and gameplay updates, GRAW will also be getting five new achievements for multiplayer gun battles for free, such as the explorer, crack shot, and victor titles mentioned above. They don't do anything to the game itself except give you another title, but some of these titles just sound really cool. Those titles, by the way, are the following:
Keep checking your Ghost Recon accounts to see if you've become the assassin. Till then, sit tight, camp for a while, and maybe lay a trap or two for your friends. Buy: [GRAW] |

Seems like everyone wants to get down and dirty in Stilwater. Major Nelson's weekly worldwide Live game stats for the week beginning on the 11th show Saints Row topping the 360 list. Well, given that Saints has topped out or at least placed strongly in the sales and rental charts, this probably would be no surprise. On its heels is Madden NFL '07.Over at the Arcade front, everyone's pulling poker faces as Texas Hold'em leads the pack, followed by Hexic HD. (Texas also pulled 8th in the 360 games list). And with the classic Xbox, Halo 2 is the one to beat. Here are the complete lists of Live 360 and Arcade game-kickers. Xbox 360 Top Live Games
