Here's a new gameplay video for the upcoming Xbox 360 build of Tomb Raider: Anniversary. Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Eidos Interactive, the title is also available on platforms PC, Nintendo Wii, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.
Anniversary is a remake of the 1996 hit Tomb Raider. This particular gameplay video is quite different from the others we've seen before in the sense that it has a cut-scene at the start. Here, Lara Croft meets for the first time Jacqueline Natla and the latter asks her to recover a mysterious artifact called the Scion. Those familiar with the story know well that this isn't going to be an easy journey for Lady Croft. Anyway, enough spoilers from us and just enjoy the video below! |

Here are two new promotional videos for the Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360 versions of Tomb Raider Anniversary. The PlayStation Portable and PC
versions, on the other hand, had already been launched by developer
Crystal Dynamics and publisher Eidos Interactive last August and June
respectively.
The video clip for the Wii version of the title features a real-life Lara Croft holding a Wiimote and Nunchuk interspersed with in-game footage. The one for Microsoft's Xbox 360 shows off more gameplay clips and some of the environments and enemies players will be meeting in the video game. Tomb Raider Anniversary is a remake of the original Tomb Raider video game that was released in 1996. Crystal Dynamics used an enhanced version of the Legend game engine on this port. If you're infatuated with Tomb Raider heroine Lara Croft and you want her to be yours alone, you'd better be ready to shell out the big bucks because she doesn't come cheap. About GBP £ 300 (US$ 600 million) should do the trick, though.Publisher SCi recently announced that it is open to being taken over by third parties, and by extension all its intellectual property including the popular Tomb Raider franchise which has thrilled gamers across three gaming generations. Share prices of SCi jumped from 37.5p to 375.5p immediately after word hit the streets on the company's willingness to sell out. The most eligible suitors at this point are industry heavyweights Warner Bros., Electronic Arts, and Ubisoft. Preliminary talks are now being held with interested parties but no details have leaked from the negotiations. What's certain, though, is that CEO Jane Cavanagh and property mogul Robert Tchenguiz will cash in on a very sweet deal. The Tomb Raider franchise celebrated its 10th anniversary this year with the release of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, which is a remake of the PSX original on the Microsoft Xbox 360, PC, and Sony PlayStation Portable. |

Behold the new voice of Tomb Raider: Minnie Driver! The new "ReVisioned" series based on Tomb Raider's Lara Croft was launched by GameTap Retrospective in honor of the 10th anniversary of the release of the first game. For more Lara Croft fun, the 10th Anniversary celebration will also release the Tomb Raider: Anniversary game on the PS2, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation Portable.Seems like this delectable diva has been busy in the animation industry recently. She also stars in the new Simpsons movie. Probably the most spectacular demonstration of her voice was when she played Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera, an even bigger diva than she is in real life. She has experience in voicing an animated character from before: she played Brooke Shields in South Park and Lady Eboshi in Princess Mononoke so our favorite heroine will be safe in her hands (and microphone.) "ReVisioned" will premier on July 10 on GameTap.com. A new episode will appear every week through August 23. And hey, it's free! |

Scott Dodkins, European managing director for Eidos, talked to MCV last week and gave partner Britsoft its props for enabling its upcoming Tomb Raider Anniversary title to have fast distribution channels both via download and retail. Microsoft Xbox 360 owners in the UK will be getting Tomb Raider Anniversary in a not-so-regular way later this year as Eidos announces that its partnership with Britsoft has yielded an innovative result. Starting this autumn, Xbox 360 owners who have the previous installment, Tomb Raider Legend, will have the ability to download the new game on Xbox Live. The digital version will come ahead of the boxed version which will be released later within the year. "The industry is changing and the way that consumers want to acquire products is changing, so we have taken the initiative to look at delivering content in a different way,” he said.“We are the first company to do that, which we are very proud of," says Dodkins. In addition, Dodkins expressed optimism that having games distributed via downloads can be a boon to the hardware part of the gaming industry. "If offering content to consumers in these new ways means that we can encourages hardware sales, then that’s good for everyone," he concludes. |
