Koei's new game Warriors Orochi has gone gold and will be reaching the U.S. on September 18 for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 2. Warriors Orochi is part of Koei's continued line that delves into the legends and histories of the ancient Eastern Civilization. This time, Warriors Orochi crosses the universes of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. Warriors Orochi features a legendary line-up of 77 playable characters from both games to battle the Serpent King, Orochi. Using his powers, Orochi tore through time and space to kidnap the legendary heroes of Ancient China and Feudal Japan. The video game from Koei features co-op play and will give players a chance to pit their favorites from both games against each other. Here are some screenshots from Warriors Orochi! Enjoy the sword-slashing fun, people!

Naysayers would have to think twice before looking at Koei at a bad light, now that the company known for creating an entirely new genre of hack-and-slash is breaking free from staple franchises to bring an innovative new title. Beyond Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors comes Warrior Orochi: an epic combination of the most prominent Chinese and Japanese heroes. Aside from the fresh moniker, Koei's latest offering will feature new elements that are sure to woo loyal fans and newcomers alike. With 77 playable characters, four "crossover" storylines, three-man team battle and weapon fusion system, Warriors Orochi is definitely something to look out for. If all that aren't enough to get you pumped up, there are 26 new screens from the game's Xbox 360 version. Nobunaga Oda and Cao Cao staring at each other is priceless - certainly a must see. We last heard about Koei's historical crossover a few months ago, and the only update to that now comes in the form of screenshots - lots of them - showing the video game Warriors Orochi in all its next-gen glory. This game, if you folks still don't know much about it, is a cross between Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors. These all-new screens give us a glimpse of the Weapon Fusion system, the Serpent King Orochi (with his grand-spanking great scaly armor), and snippets of B-movie quality cheesy lines delivered by the Serpent King's henchmen. But hey, we like them that way, so there's really no reason to complain. Looks like Koei and its samurai warriors hailing from Japan and ancient China are definitely on the roll these days, what with a Gundam-meets-Dynasty Warriors titles as well as Samurai Warriors-meets Pachinko games. As long as we're all happy about the outcome, there's certainly no harm is getting more historical battles from Koei. More updates as they come! Check out more screenshots at the Full Article! |

Koei today announced that it is expanding its Warriors video game franchise once more with the introduction of Warriors Orochi. In this new title, the universe of Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors will collide and unite this coming September 18 on the Xbox 360 as well as on PlayStation 2 (PS2).
The premise of Orochi is that the evil Serpent King Orochi descended from the skies above. He has the power to manipulate time and space so he kidnapped the strongest, wisest and most courageous warriors from Ancient China and Feudal Japan. The remaining ones must then unite to fight the King. As a preview, we have below a lot of screenshots and a piece of artwork for Warriors Orochi. Before that though, here are some of the game's features as provided by Koei itself:
