XMenX-Men: The Official Game catapults players into an original storyline that serves as a prelude to Twentieth Century Fox and Marvel Studios' upcoming film, "X-Men: The Last Stand." Mario and Luigi will be joined by Logan and his crew in videostore's shelves as they get released a day after the plumbers' debut (tomorrow).

The game enables players to assume the roles of Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman as they wield and upgrade their signature powers and maneuver through unique environments designed to showcase their Super Hero abilities like Wolverine's combat rage, Nightcrawler's acrobatics and teleportation powers, and tear through the air on Iceman's ice slide.

Actors of the movie, Hugh Jackman (Logan/Wolverine), Patrick Stewart (Professor Charles Xavier), Alan Cumming (Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler) and Shawn Ashmore (Bobby Drake/Iceman) will reprise their X-Men film roles and lend their voices to characters in the game.

"Having these actors renew their movie characters in X-Men: The Official Game immerses gamers in the X-Men movie universe," said Will Kassoy, vice president of global brand management, Activision Publishing. "Players will experience epic battles and uncover the events behind Nightcrawler's mysterious disappearance and the roles the X-Men and Brotherhood play in the upcoming film."

There may be only one Xbox 360 game release this week, but for comic book and movie fans, it doesn't get any better than this.

The X-Men make their way onto the Xbox 360 for the first time ever this Tuesday, May 16. Screenwriter Zak Penn and comic book writer Chris Claremont have collaborated to bring fans X-Men: The Official Movie Game and keep true to the ultimate X-men movie/game experience.

And speaking of the comic book/movie/game crossover, several actors from the X-Men movies will be lending their voices to the game. Patrick Stewart, will portray Professor X, Hugh Jackman will voice Wolverine, Shawn Ashmore is Iceman, and Alan Cumming returns to be the voice of Nightcrawler.

Fortunately, X-Men: The Last Stand is released in movie theaters on May 26. So you have a week and a half to play as Iceman, Wolverine, or Nightcrawler and solve the game before the movie comes out.

Just keep the spoilers to yourself!

Activision, the publisher of X-men: The official Movie Game, has released another trailer for their cross-format title. The full game, due for release on 16th May 2006; will feature 3 playable characters: Iceman, Wolverine, and Nightcrawler.  This trailer shows off in-game footage of the character 'Nightcrawler', kicking and punching his way through the enemy underworld. Some of Nightmares many special moves include an array of acrobatics and teleportation.

The in-game footage looks absolutely stunning, you can tell that they are really testing the Xbox 360 with this game. It's always nice to see the progression of graphics on 360 games, as we know it can handle all the high-definition graphics. X-Men: The Official Game will be available for PS2, Xbox, X360, PC, Gamecube GBA, and NDS when it comes out on the 16th May.

According to Gamespot the main X-Men Stars are going to be doing their voices for the new X-Men: The Official Game for Xbox 360, GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, PC, DS, and Game Boy Advance which comes out on the 16th of May, a week and a half before the new movie, X-Men: The Last Stand, comes out in theaters. Patrick Stewart, who has done Professor X's voice for the last few games is coming back for this game as well as newcomers for voicing the game Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Shawn Ashmore as Iceman, and Alan Cumming provide the voice of Nightcrawler. Looks like the Marvel games are trying to make their games with higher standards just like the announcement of the New Superman Returns game to use their actors last week. The game takes place between the events of X2 and X-Men: The Last Stand and will shed some light on why Nightcrawler will not be in the third movie.

The upcoming X-Men title has you playing Wolverine, Iceman, and Nightcrawler in a game that bridges the gap between the previous film and the next one. The levels in the game dictate which character you will play and the environments and objects are especially made for that single character.

Shacknews' preview goes in depth on all three characters and describes how each one plays. The developers made sure that each character was played differently, so there wouldn't be a lot of repetitive moves and such. The review gives us insight on the different attacks and methods of movement for each character. For instance, Iceman uses his powers to ski/fly around the levels while Nightcrawler uses his short range teleportation to go about his business. The preview also mentions that the game is expected to be about 8 hours long and spans 28 different levels, 3 of which are unlockable.

Here's a small clip from the preview:

X-Men: The Official Game is shipping on all the current home platforms: PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, and PC. It follows your standard console heirarchy in terms of graphical fidelity: Xbox 360 looks better than Xbox, which looks better than GameCube, which looks better than PS2. I didn't get a chance to see the PC version of the game. All in all, the game has a nice look to it, with nicely modeled characters that look the part. The environments aren't going to blow you away, but some--such as the site of the huge lava beast boss--are appropriately impressive.

Activision released a new trailer showcasing Wolverine. This one minute long trailer shows off some nice special effects, graphics, destruction and various sound effects. X-Men: TOG is set to be released for the Nintendo DS, Xbox, Xbox 360, PC, GBA, Gamecube, and PS2.

Is it me or does Wolverine's face in this trailer look, what's the word, retarded. He is the complete opposite of Max Payne, who looked constipated 24/7. Hopefully, the game will impress since previous installments of X-Men weren't up to par in some people's eyes.

X-Men: The Official Movie Gameis a bridge between 2 latest X-Men movies. It follows the story of our favorite superheroes, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman, as they fight through 28 action packed missions. The game is beautifully detailed, as you can see from the screenshots, and takes advantage of all of the Xbox 360 hardware. The game is due out sometime in May by Activision, they have some fascination with superheroes. X-Men: The Official Movie Game looks to be one of the better X-Men games, as in it probably won't suck.
