Since its founding last 2002, the German Games Convention (aka GCDC) has often been equated to the city of Leipzig, and its Leipziger Messe convention center that successfully tended to the 183,000 visitors that came in during GCDC's recent stint in 2006. And while we're still warming up to this year's upcoming event, there's speculation that come next year (2008), GCDC will be moving out of Leipzig into a new venue. We're not too sure about the details, but it seems that this came to light after several major exhibitors at the event stated that they were unhappy with Leipzig's location, which was described as being difficult to access due to the city's small airport. That's all the details we have for now. Stick around in case this bit of speculation gets some rock-solid confirmation, or if we pick up word on where the new GCDC venue will be - the possibilities include the cities of Frankfurt and Cologne. |

If you've got a brand new Apple 802.11n AirPort Extreme (or if you're looking to get one soon), you might have noticed that it doesn't connect with the Xbox 360 - unless you bust out a few tweaks. A recent post on 25experts.com comes to the rescue of gamers who have yet to make the setup work.
There are actually two ways to do this: the easy way, and the safe way. If you don't give a rat's behind about wireless security and all that jazz, this is really easy. Just turn the wireless security feature off and you're good to go. Running an non-secure wireless networks is a bit of a risky move, though, so here's the nifty workaround from 25experts: In Airport Utility, Option-Click (or alt click on windows keybaords) the radio setting button to get the hidden choices, and select "b/g compatible", NOT "n (b/g compatible), just straight b/g. That will limit each device to 54 Mbps, which is fine. |

Creativity and uniqueness always score brownie points in a game. In Test Drive Unlimited, not only are you offered with awesome experiences and challenges, but you are also afforded this opportunity to jazz up your performance and appeal by visiting the car and bike dealers scattered all over the island. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Aston Martin are only but a few of the high-end names in dealerships you can rub elbows with, in addition to the access you'll have to the actual manufacturer's options. Here, the choice is in your hands if you'd change your rims, paint, or interiors. Test Drive Unlimited also takes you into the glamorous world of car and bike collection, with 90 vehicles on the DVD alone, and more coming from the online marketplace. But of course, you can't just keep on collecting these toys if you don't have enough storage for them! So to add to that pimped up factor, apart from collecting those phat automobiles, you also get to collect luxury homes! The island is a pretty tight neighborhood with a tight selection of celebrity homes for that almost-celebrity lifestyle you'll be living. 60 houses on the island makes for a pretty exclusive subdivision. Of course, your character needs to be dressed for the part, so you also get to edit your appearance with the editor available in your dressing room, which contains tons and tons of your designer wears! The game itself pretty much takes you on a ride through everyday life: dressing up, picking which car to drive (alright, so that one is more of a fantasy), driving out, and looking for ways to spice up your day. Here is where the challenges come in. On the general map, you can find the hotspots for all the raving challenges, building, players and bookmarks. That would be on the first layer. On the second layer, it functions more as an info editor of some sort as you are able to specify specific elements you want viewed (available challenges, gained achievements, unlocked challenges, etc). To help you get to that race you so want to conquer, the GPS is there to aid you find it in the shortest possible time, weaving you through the quickest routes for you to have that grand entrance. While the storyline may be found to be a bit reminiscent of PS2's Need For Speed Underground (you come from the airport, drive around in a borrowed car, pimp your ride at the shops, enter races and collect cars), TTU adds and offers so much more to auto racing and collecting! With all these features onboard, Test Drive Unlimited brings in a whole new meaning of pimping up your ride, and your lifestyle! |

No, you won't be able to run Xbox 360 games on your Mac - yet. However, this little hack may be handy if your XBox and your cable modem are in separate rooms, and you don't want to shell out $100 for a wireless adapter.
Step 1: turn off your Xbox 360 and connect a standard ethernet crossover cable from the network port of the 360 to the ethernet port on your Mac. On the Mac, go to System Preferences>Sharing. Click the "Internet" tab. On the "Share your connection from..." drop-down, select AirPort. Check Built-in Ethernet on the box underneath, then press 'Start'. You will get a cautionary dialogue box; accept it. Your window should look like this:
Step 2: Turn on your 360, go to the dahboard
and navigate to the System pane. Select "Network Settings" and then
"Edit Settings". Change IP settings to Manual. Back in OS X, enter
Terminal and type, without quotes: "ifconfig en0". The first IP
address, which is probably 192.168.2.1, is your Gateway address. Enter this on your Xbox. For IP address, enter 192.168.2.2, and
255.255.255.0 for the Subnet Mask. Step 3: Save your settings on your Xbox 360. It may automatically test the new connection; ignore this, because it will fail. Go back into the settings menu and this time choose DNS Settings, making this manual as well. Next, you'll need to go back into Terminal and type in "dig" (again, without quotes) and press enter. At the bottom of the results you will find a line saying "SERVER:" (see below). The IP address following (underlined below) is your Primary DNS server, so enter that into your Xbox. Don't enter anything under Secondary DNS server.
In Network Settings on the Dashboard, select "Test Xbox Live Connection". You should now be able to connect to Xbox Live. |
