Taking the spotlight in this week's edition of our On Shelves post, the 2K Sports baseball franchise returns in The Bigs 2, which is now out in stores and waiting to be bought by baseball and sports game fans. The Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, and Wii release is accompanied by this Opus Launch trailer, which you can catch after the jump.

Minus the digital downloads, this has to be one of the smallest batches we've seen on On Shelves. Talk about a dry batch - no AAA titles in this lineup. Anyway, there's still ArmA II for the PC if you're a die-hard FPS fan, or if you're a baseball fan, 2K Sports' The Bigs is also coming out this week. Take-Two Interactive, still hot in talks with Electronic Arts (supposedly) over their merger, has sent in its financial statement for the previous fiscal quarter. The report reveals their line-up of games for the next (fiscal) year. Details in the full article.

It seems like Sony has done it again as the PlayStation Portable has once again dominated the sales charts in Japan for yet another week. On the flip side of things, five new video game titles have wedged themselves into the top slots of the software market. Like in the UK, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has yielded its place after only a week on top spot in the Japan software charts. The ESRB website has revealed that the NES classic R.B.I. Baseball may soon be coming to Xbox 360s. The game was recently spotted on the ESRB listings and is apparently being worked on by Six Degrees Games.

Media Create has released the Japanese Sales charts for the week of April 4 to 13. Making its debut in the list at first place is Nintendo's Mario Kart Wii, selling 594,000 copies in its first week. To find out what other games were able to make it into charts, head on over to the full article.

If you feel that you aren't getting enough bang out of your buck due to the rather problematic issues noted in Major League Baseball 2K8 (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable,  Wii, and DS), then we've got some good news for you. 2K Sports has announced that it will be rolling out an update for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game which will take care of these problems.
