While European PC fans eat up their online multiplayer time on Electronic Arts' latest installment of the original C&C universe, Xbox 360 will get to join in on the action sooner than later. According to an official press release by the publishing giant, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars for the Xbox 360 will be hitting European stores on May 11, 2007. The demo version was extremely popular over Xbox Live and was claimed to have hit the most downloaded demo in its first week. Microsoft also claimed that you avid fans of the Command & Conquer franchise have kept up playing the game to make it one of the most played demos over Xbox Live. "The team is truly excited to see the response form the recent demo release and can’t wait for gamers to get their hands on the entire Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars game," said Electronic Arts Los Angeles senior producer Mike Glosecki. With the return of Joe Kucan as the original megalomaniac Kane, together with sci-fi actors from "Battlestar Galactica", "Lost" and "House," fans of the series can expect high definition sequences of the classic story reborn in this chapter of the third Tiberium War. Glosecki concluded the announcement, saying: Whether you are a Command & Conquer fan, an avid RTS or Xbox 360 gamer, or someone who enjoys a great Sci-Fi universe with a deep story, you will enjoy the fast-action gameplay and watching the epic story in the game unfold. |

Enter Joe Kucan, comedian-slash-actor-slash-comedian-slash-baldy-slash-comedian. You'll all remember him from the original Command & Conquer installment - the very first one. Comprising the role of Kane, he is the same, old bald-headed megalomaniac that leads the equally weird Brotherhood of Nod against the forces of the military machine, the Global Defense Initiative.
GameSpot got to bear with Kucan for a couple of minutes (hours, for sure, from laughing their socks off) to get his views on the newest installment to the original story, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars coming out for the PC and 360. Oh and he also has a say about his work with sultry Tricia Helfer and ooh-la-la Grace Park, among others. He is very surprised that the team developing the game specifically asked that he play the role of Kane. He adores the fact that the team is so loyal to the old story, the very foundation that spurred C&C to blockbuster fame. He does get away with mentioning that he was also cheap to hire and can be easily coerced to move the heavy equipment around. Taking a second look at him, he hasn't aged a bit has he? He claims to love Bikram Yoga, which he says helps him stay young. And of course, there's the Dorian Gray immortality claim. We wonder if his portrait that "just gets older and older" also grows hair... He was honored to act alongside sci-fi veteran actors Grace Park and Tricia Helfer, of "Battlestar Galactica" fame, and found the experience one to remember. He never failed to joke about a restraining order placed on him by Helfer, though. He also thanks game executive producer Mike Verdu for tattooing Kucan's face on his chest and all his fans for their support of the game. Frak 'n cheese! The Cylon wars are starting to heat up. Not wanting to lose the momentum right after announcing the release date of their game, Sierra Online has now revealed more info about Battlestar Galactica. The HD game, which will be bypassing retail and heading directly for paid download on the PC and via the XBL for 360 owners, will be based on events as seen in the first two seasons of the series.Aside from the nine missions in single-player mode, there will be over a dozen multiplayer maps that can hold up to 16 player on the PC and up to eight on 360. There's a four-versus-four and eight-versus-eight team play, with both side of the war being represented - Colonials and Cylons. Sierra will also be rolling out some downloadable content: new missions, ships, multiplayer maps, etc. It seems as if they're really giving fans what they want to see in a BSG game. To stay true to the TV series, the development team has worked closely with the studio producing BSG, and will be bringing the ships into the game. More than that, they're even going to add more depth into the universe by introducing new never-before-seen ships. |

When Vivendi Games dismissed rumors about the existence of a Battlestar Galactica MMO, fans were like "Come on, we want that game!" We know exactly how you feel so this bit of news should cheer you up. Vivendi is in fact doing a game inspired by the hit TV series and it is coming out on Xbox Live Arcade as well as Windows PC. After a lot of guessing on the part of the fans, Ed Zobrist, President of Sierra Online (a division of Vivendi Games), finally made it official: We're huge fans of "Battlestar Galactica"and are thrilled to have the opportunity to create a game inspired by the TV series. NBC Universal is working closely with us so that players will be able immerse themselves in the "Battlestar Galactica" universe and re-live their favorite missions from the TV series. While Battlestar Galactica won't come out before Fall of 2007, fans can now have a glimpse of the game by downloading Gamer Pics and Themepacks at the Marketplace. Lastly, details about the game are still scarce as of now, but Sierra mentioned that developer Auran Games implemented both single and multiplayer modes. Also, players can take part in intense space battles as a pilot for either the humans or Cyclons. We also heard that legendary ships from the television show will be featured on the game as well. Legendary, eh? Which ships would those be? |
