Back in October, Paul W.S. Anderson shared that production for the long-planned Castlevania movie adaptation will soon go full swing. It is also on that same report that we learned that film outfit Rogue Pictures wants a full revamp of the script. - Image 1Back in October, Paul W.S. Anderson shared that production for the long-planned Castlevania movie adaptation will soon go full swing. Prior to all this, it was believed that the story of the Castlevania movie project will revolve around a knight from Transylvania hiding from the Turkish Army in Dracula's castle.

Well, you can all forget about that as the official plot of the movie has just been revealed. The plot after the jump!

Castlevania: Dracula's Curse - Image 1

Transmetropolitan creator Warren Ellis has recently let out a few interesting details on the upcoming direct-to-DVD Castlevania animated movie through the official Castlevania: Dracula's Curse production blog. Ellis has signed on as the animated film's screenwriter.

First of all, Ellis says that it's going to be a trilogy, as in there will be three Castlevania animated films. The film will be set in Wallachia in 1476, and long-time fans will be pleased to note that the movie team has "worked with Koji Igarashi to get the film solidly inside the Castlevania timeline." Also, it won't be your generic kids' movie, so we can probably expect some mature themes here and there.

According to Ellis, Igarashi has "approved everything I came up with, including some new embroidering to the timeline. To make it work as a film, I had to introduce new backstory, and I went through five drafts of the premise and three of the full outline to get the material where IGA wanted it."

As for character appearances, Sypha Belnades is in, Grant DaNasty is out. The reason? Ellis gives out three, but let's just take two. Reason one: "Grant DaNasty is a stupid name that I cannot take seriously. (When he does turn up, I’ll probably use the alternate spelling of Grant DiNesti.)" Reason two: "Seriously, what use is a pirate on dry land? 'Avast, ye swabs, and push me fecking cart! Arrr!' No. Just no."

DoA girls - Image 1While this list isn't exactly the most original of its kind, we wanted to offer our take on which mamas are the hottest in the virtual world. Everything here is subjective and any list is as good as ours. So without remorse, this is our top 10 hottest game babes to date:

10. Maria Renard (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)- The blonde hottie from Alucard's big night out may not have been seen in 3D glory and all, but the portrait was convincing enough. With her perfect complexion, killer brown eyebrows and the wavy, golden hair, she was a perfect leading lady to match with the vampiric charm of Dracula's son.

9. Mai Shiranui (King of Fighters)- Mai first appeared in the first half of the 90's in Fatal Fury 2. She immediately became one of the stars of the game for obvious reasons: She had the moves and the physique to match. Where rival bear 'em up Street Fighter II featured more conservative lady brawlers, SNK showed Mai's assets off with an innovative twist: Bouncing jubblies! Now imagine the testosterone levels in the old-school arcades more than a decade ago.

8. Aerith Gainsborough (Final Fantasy VII)- The gorgeous good girl of the legendary RPG Final Fantasy VII may have led a short and sweet character lifespan, but the fact remains that she's still one of the most beloved females in the business to date. Okay, the clothes she wore may not exactly be revealing, but we have to understand that it's how she was meant to be packaged in the first place. Imagine if she was a bit more fashion-trendy: She would have given the DoA girls a run for their money.

7. Morrigan Aensland (Dark Stalkers)- The naughty night warrior does that succubus lineage proud. She looked fantastic in 2D and had the ferocity to match. The anime spin-off of Capcom's popular Halloween fighter did her justice as she was just as charming there. Call her costume weird, but that only strengthens the convictions of her appeal. You gotta admit, not a lot of girls will look sexy in that!

Now you see it, now you don't... - Image 1

Apparently, Microsoft's been taking lessons form the king of the night (Dracula, not the other guy). If you guys were trying to check out GameStop's 512 MB memory card and were greeted by that image above, don't be surprised. Gamestop has removed the post, along with the previously announced March 1 release. In connection with the take-down, Next-gen gaming decided to inquire with Microsoft on the validity of the card, and got this reply:

"We have not made any announcements about a new MU(Memory Unit)," a Microsoft spokesperson told Next-Gen in an e-mail statement. "Keep in mind that retailers will sometimes list items based on the best available information that they have, which may later turn out to be incomplete or not 100 percent accurate."

Despite the statement, we're not about to junk this card as another hopeful rumor. Symphony of the Night for the XBLA was previously announced to break the 50mb limit that the card currently carries, meaning that either way, there may be a new card coming out to match the game's specs. For now, it's a matter of waiting for full details on this new card.

What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets.

That is perhaps one of the worst, yet one of the best, lines ever made in video game history. Dracula says it in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, a well-received PlayStation game by Konami. For Xbox 360 owners, that line will take on its own meaning as Microsoft's booth in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) showed off their own little preview of Castlevania: SOTN.

Yes, folks. The port is official, and it will be coming to an Xbox Live Arcade near you... probably on a Wednesday. For now, enjoy this shakycam footage of the game from the CES booth, and start saving up that holy water. We'll try to get you a download of it as soon as we can, just in case Game Videos gets all wonky again.

Harker 360 screenshot

Foundation 9's The Collective has remained pretty tight-lipped about their upcoming horror game Harker. Game goodies are pretty hard to come by and we don't even know yet who's going to publish the game. So imagine our joy when we heard that the official website for the said game is now up and running.

Yeah-huh, you can now check out the game's site which already has a trailer and a bunch of screenshots put up. Aside from that, the site seems to be a work in progress so we have yet to meet the characters we'll encounter in the game. As we said, game info remains scarce so there's no set release date yet, all we know is that it's based on Dracula and players will get to take on the role of Jonathan Harker, who's faced with the mission of killing all the vampires.

The screens you see below (as well as the one above) are from the 360 version of the game. And even though they've been out for quite a while now, we're giving it to you guys just in case you weren't able to catch them. Oh, and you can check out the official game site by clicking on the read link below. Harker is set to hit the shelves in 2008.

SOTNCastlevania: Symphony of the Night, the 13th installment of the Castlevania series and is a direct sequel to Demon Castle Dracula X: Rondo of Blood for the NEC PC Engine, is making its way to the Xbox 360. To go down to the specifics, it will be available on Xbox Live Arcade. This development has burst the planned PS1 titles that would soon be heading to the PSP via emulation, maybe Konami didn't hear that and jumped the gun too soon.

The game, which was a massive hit during its PSOne days, would also be joined in XBLA by other Konami titles such as Frogger, Contra, Super Contra, Track & Field, Time Pilot, and Scramble. This development was said to be reported in the September issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly.

Apparently, the PSOne version of the game will appear in XBLA, not the Sega Saturn Version.  Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (SOTN) would allegedly have a tentative Q1 2007 release on XBLA.

Castlevania

Yes, there's going to be a Castlevania movie and yes, we'll let you know everything about the man behind it, but first we'll start with the news that prompted this little article. In a recent interview with horror movie enthusiast website Bloody Disgusting, the man at the helm of the planned Castlevania flick, Paul W.S. Anderson let the following be known about the films plot:

"It will integrate Dracula's origin story with the story of the Belmonts,[There are] a fair amount of references [to the original NES games]." He continues, "[This will be] a whole new spin to 'Castlevania'," and the best part, "The whip is still in it."

So at least we know Dracula's in the movie, and we know we'll see the Belmonts, and whip, calming stuff. What's a little alarming is where he Anderson remarks that "This will be a whole new spin to Castlevania." Without getting too worked up over a simple comment, it's always a scary proposition when a Hollywood filmmaker decides to put a new spin on cherished time honored material, mario-bros/2427" id="tag" title="">Super Mario Bros. The Movie anyone?  Paul W.S. Anderson has made a career of directing videogame movie adaptations, and while he's hardly a remarkable film maker he's had some reasonable success... and his name doesn't end in Boll. With that said, let's have a look at Anderson's relevant filmography, judge how closely the movies followed the subject matter, decide how successful they were and see if we can map a course of prediction for Castlevania: The Movie, shall we?
