Call of Duty: World at War - Image 1This report from Gamasutra should erase any and all doubts lingering in your minds about just how successful Call of Duty: World at War (PS3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii) truly is. The three DLC packs that the game released digitally for both the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles "only" managed to push 6.5 million units between the months of March and Mid-August 2009. How's that for a big performer?

GamesIndustry reports that in the UK, the Xbox 360 Elite scored a positive 43% increase in their sales during the bank holiday weekend. Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior - Image 1The biggest thing that you missed this week on the Xbox 360 blog is the back and forth dance towards the Xbox 360 Elite price cut. The good thing is that all's well that ends well. We did get the official announcement of the Elite price cut, but unfortunately, we did have to say goodbye to the Pro model. Oh well. Xbox 360 - Image 1Despite the US$ 100 price cut from the Xbox 360 Elite, analyst firm EEDAR is of the opinion that this will not in any way positively affect the sales of the console. At least not significantly.

Games - Image 1If the analysts turn out right, then we just might see the fourth consecutive sales decline in the June results of NPD, and then we'll see that price cut happen. Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan and Jesse Divinich of EEDAR are synonymous in saying that sales will most likely be down by around 20-23%.

ps3 wii 360The March 2009 hardware sales figures haven't been released yet, so you can expect Michael Pachter and EEDAR to throw in their pre-NPD report forecasts. Some numbers for their projected sales of consoles during last month may vary, but one thing remains similar: the Wii may still be on the lead, but the gap between the PS3 and Xbox 360 seems to be thinning down.

Xbox 360 Weekend Warrior - Image 1Interesting week for Microsoft, wouldn't you say. If you take a look at the bullets for each category after the jump, you'll see that they're pretty even, yes, both Gaming and Industry news are. Usually Industry news will be just a couple of bullets, but not this week. Yep, it's been yet another exciting week for the big MS. More record-breakers are here, anticipated demos, BioShock 2 updates, new maps, price cuts, trailers and a certain bird that is apparently also the word. Word.

Analyst Jesse Divnich says that "Nintendo saved Christmas," with Wii sales on an all-time high for December.
