Final Fantasy XIII - Image 1What's your favorite Final Fantasy game? And compared to that question, lemme ask another slightly different one: what do you think is the best of the franchise? Best in terms of sales and worldwide reception, of course. FF series producer Yoshinori Kitase answers both of these questions: FFXIII being the best, and FFVII being his personal fave.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete - Image 1Just like what they do with their infamous Closed Mega Theater, Square Enix held private screenings for two of their high-profile properties: Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, and a quick tease for Final Fantasy XIII (PS3, Xbox 360). Again, a select few get to see some Squeenix booty ahead of the rest of us. In the meantime, let's take a look at stuff we're allowed to see.

New Vs. Old: Final Fantasy XIII Battle Interface - Image 1When Final Fantasy XIII comes out, I expect to spend countless hours grinding, which is why I'm hoping the battle system won't be a hassle to play. High quality scans show the new and improved (?) battle system - way different from the one we saw from early screens.

Final Fantasy VII - Image 1The PlayStation 3 lacks any games with "oh my god" moments. That's how Peter Molyneux, the guy behind Fable 2, Populous, and Black & White, explains his earlier remark that the PS3 lacks any defining titles.

And just how does he define "oh my god" moments? Think Aeris. Her death made many a gamer weep. In fact, Molyneux believes that Final Fantasy VII defined RPG as a genre. More opinions after the link.

I'm thankful for FFVII for introducing me to gaming! - Image 1Thanksgiving is the season where people can be thankful for all their blessings and hope that the next year will be as good as the one that preceded it. Since QJ is in the gaming business though, I've decided to note a couple of things that I'm thankful for, gaming-wise.

You probably have your own list of gaming-related things you're thankful for having, so feel free to note them on the comments. That being said though, here's a short list of things I'm thankful for, after the jump!

QuickJump QuickPeek 12 - Image 1

(Editor's Note: So how's your week been? It's been a rather busy week for everyone in the QuickJump community. Not only were there the usual big big BIG news cropping up when we least expected them in the gaming industry, but there have also been some major changes to this little slice of heaven we all call QJ.Net. We know some of you guys have been loyal readers since back in the heyday, and that's why we're pulling out all the stops in giving you guys a better time whenever you visit us here. You guys asked for it, and we finally got to make ends meet!)

It's QuickJump QuickPeek's 12th issue and we're zooming down the Internet highway at a momentum that could wet little Matty Lovo Jr.'s pants - BTW, props for finally scoring that PS3, Matty boy! Now while everyone else is already hitting the road for this coming week's Tokyo Game Show (starts on the 20th, all the way up to the 23rd), we've still got to recap what's been going on this week. Besides. Recent developments could actually be setting the stage for the TGS without our knowing. Is so-and-such about to bring out their big guns? Are issues between so-and-so about to be settled? Are sequels, remakes, and ports about to be revealed?

Now, before we start with all the Peeking, we'll have to sneak in some Site News that concerns everyone here in the QJ.Net community: Anonymous Commenting has now been banninated. Users are now encouraged to sign up and register - for free, mind you - in order to comment. Yep, it's been a long time coming indeed, and hey!, everyone's been giving some positive feedback on it too!

It's our goal to provide not only a source of 24/7 gaming news, but be a source of intelligent conversation as well. You all can be a smart and opinionated bunch and we want to encourage that sort of behavior, not stifle it. We're sure Captain Planet is feeling rather blue for having to go on a sudden exodus to banninator land, but it's all for the best!

Link: QJ.NET Commenters: Anon today, gone tomorrow

What with more registered users flocking in, QJ veterans Mister Common Sense, Quixand, AoxomamoxoA, CHUCKINGROCKS, and MGSROCKS1 might have some competition cut out for them in bagging the Comment of the Week now! Who gets it in Issue 12? Sorry, no spoilers...

Too Human - Image 1

In his latest post, Henry Sterchi of Silicon Knights talked about "Teh Phat Lootz" of Too Human. Let's face it; we battle through hordes of minions and get into the game so much we forget to have dinner, the least it could do is drop an omega weapon or something. Well, that's what Sterchi, Director of Design of Too Human, discusses.

In Too Human, players will have access to a variety of weapons and armor, and rightly so. You can't have a story about cybernetically enhanced humans set in Norse Mythology and not have a kick ass arsenal.

The game will have swords, hammers, and staves - all of which will come in one or two-handed forms. Then there's the pistols, rifles and cannons which come with different ammunition types including slug, plasma and laser. There will be six pieces to make up armor in Too Human: helm, shoulders, gloves, chest plate, leggings and boots.

Too Human will employ a similar system to the materia-slots of FFVII weaponry and armor. Slots in the gear will accommodate Runes which give stat bonuses. There are over 100 types of Runes to maximize your gear. There's even a Rune to change the color of the item the Runes are fused into.

There's also Runic Charms which gives abilities to your weapons and armor. The effect of the charms range from freezing enemies to draining health points. Rune Charms require a task to be completed to be activated, but they can also be combined to form more elaborate forms.

That's it for this update, except for three new screenshots featuring robots with an attitude and a big ass laser cannon:
