Microsoft and ATI are reportedly partnering up once again for the next Xbox's GPU. Word has it that Microsoft is satisfied with the Xenos GPU found in Xbox 360s so we can expect another ATI GPU in the console's next iteration.

A lot of people think that the year 2012 is significant. Some think the world's going to end by then. People in the games industry, on the other hand, think that it will be a beginning instead of an end: the beginning of the next console cycle. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli is one of those who believe that 2012 is when the next generation of game consoles will start showing up. *UPDATE* Two demo videos have surfaced from GamesCom 2009.

Is there a new Xbox 360 Arcade configuration released for this Spring? The XboxHacker forum seems to believe so, as they point to a new "Jasper" model that's supposedly coming with a built-in Memory Unit (MU) that has double the capacity.

The Red Ring of Death is the most common failure of the Xbox 360 to date. The chances of your Xbox crashing are a whopping 30%. Microsoft has been tight lipped on this subject except in a July 2007 press release, where they stated that there is a design flaw, and almost every system could fail at some point. Even if you don't have problems right now, you should be aware of what can happen because as your system gets older, the chance of failure increases drastically.

Red Rings bringing your Xbox 360 down for the count? Microsoft's still trying to make ends meet, albeit still a bit too late for some. The big MS is doing it quietly too: the new Xbox 360 Japser motherboards, which supposedly have the RRoD-proof(?) 65nm GPU chips, have been spotted in the wild without much fuss from the console manufacturer.

Microsoft's been under a lot of heat because of the Xbox 360 overheating issue (pun intended). To address this, Microsoft came out with Project Falcon, a new Xbox 360 model sporting the 65nm chip, which will offer a significant reduction in heat. Ben Heck, modder extraordinaire, got the new Falcon model Xbox 360 and tested it against the older Zephyr model in a laptop-type environment. The person who first spread the rumor of Bungie leaving Microsoft which eventually came true, Jake Metcalf from 8BitJoystick, claims he had a chat with someone who worked with Microsoft on the Xbox 360 project for years and knows why the 360 is suffering from hardware failures. If this "insider" is to be believed, Microsoft intends to release a new 360 SKU every year and consoles for the next-generation are already being developed by the platform holders.
