The NPD results are out for the month of September, and look at what we have here! A mighty and proud showing of PS3 sales finally taking over the spot beyond the Xbox 360 and the Wii -- for the first time ever. That's not to say that it topped all of the charts, though. A couple hundred thousands more till it successfully topples down the Nintendo DS from its # 1 spot.

Time to take that walk in the historic Abbey Road as MTV Games, Harmonix and Apple Corps, Ltd. announced today the launch of Abbey Road (1969) as the first of the Beatles' album to be released as downloadable content. The DLC will be landing in The Beatles: Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii)Music Store on October 20 for the Xbox 360 and Wii, and October 22 for the PS3.

It may not be their very own Rock Band title, but Queen will still make its presence felt for Rock Band. MTV Games and Harmonix today announced the Queen track pack for the game, adding ten more tracks from the iconic music group.

The Beatles: Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii) has been a resounding success, so which band will Harmonix and MTV Games be shining the spotlight on in the next Rock Band game? It's all fog and haze at this point, but according to guitarist Brian May we can now add Queen to the pool of candidates.

While some bands and rock icons have expressed their disinterest towards music games, the legendary artists of U2 are eyeing the other side of the fence. Instead of turning their backs on what could be an insult to their artform, they've decided that they want to get a piece of what The Beatles did with Rock Band.

Harmonix has just released a patch for Rock Band 2's Xbox 360 version that adds support for wireless mics, background downloading, and an audition mode for Rock Band Network, among other things. A PS3 version of the patch is now undergoing the certification process and will be out ASAP. There's no word yet on a Wii patch, however. Hit the jump for the patch notes.

This won't be entirely surprising if ever this does come to pass. RedOctane believes that the new Natal technology from Microsoft will most likely be used for the Guitar Hero franchise.

While Guitar Hero 5 is confronting Love problems, Harmonix' The Beatles: Rock Band (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii) is getting overwhelmed with all the love they are getting from their fans, so much so that a shortage of stock is looking to be mighty inevitable.

A rather lengthy piece about The Beatles: Rock Band on the New York Times' online equivalent has revealed that the game will be getting three albums as DLC after it launches early next month. Details after the jump.

Pearl Jam is getting their own Rock Band title, apparently, and they're building up some early hype for their upcoming Rock Band game by releasing their new album, Backspacer, as downloadable content on the same day the album hits stores.
