GameStop deal of the week - Image 1What's the Big Deal with GameStop's deals this week? It's the Simpsons Game which will be available by the end of the month. The price cut for the Sony PlayStation 3's 80 GB console is also spotlighted this week, plus a couple of discounted games for the Xbox 360, the PS3, and the PC.

This week's promo is a free Homerball when you reserve the Simpsons Game (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS). The Homerball is a little toy doll of Homer. If you recall, getting as fat and round as a watermelon is one of Homer's powers in the game. Also this week is MotorStorm, bundled with the 80 GB console.

Discounts this week are WarTech: Senko No Ronde (US$ 9.99), Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom (US$ 19.99) and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (US$ 49.99). The 20% trade-in credit for reserving Super Mario Galaxy is still in effect, and probably will be until the game is finally released next month on November 12.

Forget donuts, guys - it looks Homer's got a similar thing going for chocolate. At least, that's the notion we're getting from this new The Simpsons Game (PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, DS) trailer that's been recently put into circulation. And as you can guess, this particular level takes its cue from Homer's daydream in the Land of Chocolate in the TV series.

The difference with this retake is that it's partly done in the game's cell-shaded graphics, and that you'll get to play as Homer come the game's release, . Expect Electronic Art's The Simpsons Game to arrive in North America this October 30, with its European port hitting by November 1.

Eat my shorts: Quick impressions on The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360) - Image 1

After 19 seasons, 400 episodes, 22 video games and a whole bunch of other numbers, America's "first family of cartoons" is back in their latest foray into the Simpsons franchise.

This time, you'll see them in their latest adventure in a video game published by Electronics Arts - The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, and DS). The Xbox 360 team here at QJ.NET proudly brings you our first impressions on The Simpsons Game demo.

The Simpsons... in 3D (or not)

The game itself was written from an original storyline by some of the writers from the actual cartoon series. Initially thought to be an adaptation of The Simpsons Movie, the game (or the demo at least) proved to be a true, blue Simpsons classic that gamers can appreciate for both its wacky plot and humorous outtakes typical of the show.

The Simpsons Game is a third-person action game which throws everyone's favorite yellow-skinned characters into a parody of a series of video games of various genre. It purposely pokes fun at a lot of pop culture references, as well as other video games. To accentuate this, each member of the Simpsons family has his ans her own unique video game "power" which fits their personality perfectly.

You can expect the same brand of comedy that has entertained people for over 20 years in the game. With irreverent titles for each level spoofing tributing other famous games, such as "Shadow of the Colossal Donut" and "Medal of Homer", you'd think you were watching separate episodes from the actual TV show.

The graphics switch from pseudo 3D cut scenes lovingly illustrated by Matt Groening to cel shaded 3D models during the actual game. Couple this with the fact that nearly the entire cast reprised their roles and lent their vocal talents for the game, it's no wonder that The Simpsons Game can be considered as every fan's dream of what an interactive Simpsons show would look like.

EA's The Simpsons Game features its complete list of 44 achievements - Image 1Even if you do have a tendency to act like Bart sometimes and love playing the underachiever, Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, and DS) is pushing you to do your best to complete its list of 44 achievements for the game on the Xbox 360.

Most of the achievements play on the usual "finish-the-level" awards, as well as completing the different time challenges on each stage.

And, of course, it wouldn't exactly be a Simpsons game if it didn't have its own set of wacky achievements like the "Pwnd" achievement (die 10 times) or the "Press START to Play" achievement (exactly what it says: just press start and you get it).

While you won't expect to rack up a lot of points even if you complete all the achievements, the game itself promises to be a fun experience as you lead America's favorite yellow-skinned family through a wacky satire of video game scenarios.

You can check out the entire list of achievements right after the jump!

The Simpsons Game - Xbox 360 screenshots - Image 1

Here comes another update for the upcoming video game of the family we all love, The Simpsons. Today's update boasts of a whopping twenty-seven screenshots for The Simpsons Game's Xbox 360 version.

In the screenshots, we see some scenes from several parts of the game, like the God of Wharf level where Lisa and Bart try and fend off hordes of demented dolphins. We also see them sabotaging a logging operation while Homer burps and rolls around. They look spiffy whilst doing their signature moves, Homer turning into a molten blob, Liza with her saxophone, and of course Bartman.

Anyway, check out the screenshots to see what me mean. The Simpsons Game will also be appearing on PS2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, Wii, and DS by the end of next month so stay tuned.

Staying true to their irreverent and satirical nature, Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, and DS) comes up with even more funny video game spoofs in a movie trailer-like video featuring America's favorite yellow-skinned family. This time Homer, Marge and Maggie find themselves in the magical world of Neverquest, a massively multiplayer mockery of many fantasy-based games.

Right off the bat, you'll see that this part of the game includes a myriad of tributes spoofs to titles as The Lord of the Rings series, the Gauntlet platformer and, of course, the Everquest MMORPG. Homer takes the role as the token fighter of the game, while Marge plays the proverbial mage of the party (or in her own words: "I'm like Gandalf, but sexy"). Suffice to say the video captures the essence of everything that marks the series as a certified Simpsons classic.

We don't want to give too much away since the video itself is just a priceless piece of Simpsons art. Anyway, everyone can expect The Simpsons Game when it ships onto every platform this October 30. In the meantime, enjoy the video!

Pre-order The Simpsons Game and get a homerball and poster - Image 1Those who decide to pre-order Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game (DS, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360) are in for a treat. They'll be receiving some swag including one of the four limited edition posters and if you're lucky, a Homerball figure.

The four posters have the different designs showing off one of the different parodies present in the game. Each one will also have a cheat code on the back which players can use to unlock some of the content in the game. The press release gave word that it will be available from GameStop, Wal-Mart, Target, and Best Buy.

The Homerball, which will be available at "participating retailers while supplies last" is based on Homer's (duh!) special power in the game. For those who haven't seen this move in action, he essentially turns into a giant ball which gives the him ability to break through walls and steamroll any enemies.

Pre-orders will be available by September 19, so you might want to mark that on your calendar. If you want to get a Homerball. You might also want to place a few calls to your local game stores to see which ones carry the limited edition figurine.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and it certainly has nothing on a certain blue-haired woman's desire to clean up the digital videogame city of Springfield. We've seen the video interviews, the gameplay videos, we've even been spoiled as to the identity of the final boss - now, we get a look at The Simpsons' (DS, PS3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360) extended trailer, set to the music of Rock You Like a Hurricane by the Scorpions. Awesome, Electronic Arts!

It's been said quite a few times already, but it bears repeating: this next-gen recreation of the world's most recognizable animated family is not only looking to be the best out of the bunch, but also the most accurate.
Even the locations are painstakingly modeled to match that of nuclear energy-powered Springfield - making it a member of the Simpsons cast given new life thanks to videogame magic. Here's hoping, though, that we do get to listen to the trailer's song as we're kicking digital booty as Homer, Lisa, Marge or Bart.

Embed's below, enjoy!
