MCA skates on the moon in Activision's Tony Hawk's Proving Ground - Image 1

Who'd have thunk it? Adam Yauch a.k.a. MCA of the Beastie Boys will be showing off his mad skateboarding skills (at least virtually) in Activision's upcoming skater game, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground. He'll be one of the new faces that will grace the famous, if improbable, line up of bonus skaters for the game.

Included in this update is the complete soundtrack listing for Tony Hawk's Proving Ground, totalling a hefty 54 licensed songs all in all. Included in this list will be famous bands that play to the tune which has marked this high-velocity series, such as the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Slick Rick, and Jurassic 5.

Activision also announced an added bonus for those getting the Xbox 360 version of the game. The game will include a five song demo of "Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock." While the demo will be available soon on the Xbox Live, this is definitely a freebie that will be hard to pass up on.

Developed by Neversoft, Tony Hawk's Proving Ground is scheduled for release during the last quarter of this year. It will be coming out for the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Nintendo DS and Wii.

Check out the complete list of songs and their respective artists right after the jump!

Bringing the Classics - Image 1 Bringing the Classics - Image 2

Wii's Virtual Console (VC) and 360's Live Arcade are a major chunk of what nostalgic gamers like about next gen. It's having to play ports of classic games delivered straight to your console. The thing is, some of the classics were not really as faithful to the originals as most gamers had hoped.

Ben Kuchera from Ars Technica spotted some nots on some classics. For the Wii's VC, Mario Kart 64 lacks the emulation of the memory pack slot that enables best times to be recorded. Kid Icarus' sound and graphics are great but lacks the original cheat codes from our youth (PAKING PAKING PAKING PAKING). Starfox 64 came with a rumble pack, unfortunately, Nintendo has announced that rumble in VC titles won't be supported.

From the Xbox Live Arcade, some people noted that Frogger seemed to be off. The increased difficulty and updated graphics just don't feel the same. Contra fans remember the classic cheat code to get 30 lives. The problem is, the download isn't the NES version - it's the arcade version.

Kuchera also notes that the D-Pad is a bit inappropriate for some games, unlike the multiple controllers supported by the Wii. Anyway, some would have different reactions to this but the point is - it was a good idea to have classic games make a comeback on next gen consoles. Notice anything off in your classic downloads? Some would just like to be reminded of their childhood.
