EA and Madden - Image 1Just a few days ago, John Madden's resignation brought about some folks waxing sentimental about how much they're gonna miss the legendary sports announcer. Today however, we find that waxing sentimental is the least of what some retired NFL players are planning to do. They're mad, and they're suing -- both Madden and Electronic Arts.

EA Sports President Peter Moore - Image 1Now that Peter Moore has taken the helm of EA Sports as president, big plans are about to be carried out for the company. Not only does he want games of the brand to be successful in multiple platforms, but also wants EA Sports to go global.

In an interview, Moore discussed about how he looks at other countries where the gaming industry could be in three years time. India, Russia, and mainland China are the biggest bets as future major players within the interactive entertainment world. For instance, EA Sports is looking at cricket as a sport that can become more than just India's favorite.

Other goals in Moore's checklist include capitalizing on various platforms and making sure his company can make games that sell to a wider audience. He also expressed interest in getting another tattoo, one of John Madden, if his back is wide enough.

When asked why Moore left his position in Microsoft as corporate vice president, he replied:

[EA] is a company I have enjoyed competing with over the years and more recently collaborating with. I have strong Bay Area roots with my kids being born here, being Cal Berkeley kids, and the timing was right for me both personally and professionally to come here.

He also mentioned how he knew Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitello for a long time and figured out that being where he is now is the suitable place for someone with his background. Some may remember EA also offered him good salary and compensation for leaving his previous job.

Vince Young to be cover boy of Madden NFL 08 - Image 1Charger fans, rejoice!

A couple of days ago, we reported about a rumor saying that Titans quarterback Vince Young is about to be the cover boy for Madden NHL 08. Now confirmation has been made straight from the horse's mouth. John Madden himself.

The coach accidentally let the cat out of the bag on the Daily Madden podcast, "Vince Young is going to be on the cover…why, is that not out yet…did I just let something out of the bag?" So is Vince Young the next jinx guy? Madden also "pooh pooh-ed" the idea of a curse afflicting the cover players of the Madden NHL franchise. According to him, if you believe that something's going to happen to you - "then it's going to get you".

There you have it folks. The Tennessee Titan is going to grace the cover of Electronic Arts' Madden NFL 08.

Madden!Madden and his blasted pigskin have done it again. Loss after loss after countless bone-breaking loss, but we still keep on playing Madden 07! It's frustrating to be that bad at a sports game, even if it's already computerized.

Microsoft knows we all aren't sports geniuses, so they've probably coerced Prima Strategy Guides into offering a little incentive for both their companies to grab a little extra cash.

If you check Microsoft's download center and dig around a little, you'll notice that Microsoft is offering free strategy guides for download. Nice gesture and all, but it's definitely a teaser. How come?

The two pdf files refer only to XBox 360 control, and only show you strategies for offense and defense, and the pros and cons of each tactic.

Sneaky tactic, but for people who own a 360 and who could use a coach, this is a great way to get yourself some free backup that has pictures and detail. Pick it up from Microsoft folks, as we'd prefer to not have Mr. Gates send his robot monkey ninjas after us.
