Lara? - Image 1The next Tomb Raider game will be an open-world, survival horror series reboot that has Lara Croft fighting against the love child of F.E.A.R.'s Alma and Wolverine. At least that's the vibe I'm getting from these supposedly secret images of the new game that were recently leaked onto the Web.

Squeidos - Image 1Since Square Enix's official acquisition of Eidos back in May, there've been lots of hoping and speculating surrounding the possibility of the two publishers crossing-over IPs. Here's your answer - in an interview with Gamasutra, the CEOs of both companies reveal: "It's possible."

Tomb Raider movie - Image 1Terminator: Salvation producer Dan Lin has rights over the next Tomb Raider movie, and from what he says, it's going to be a reboot. Oh don't act all surprised - we heard earlier that the new movie will be getting a fresh start. More details on this though: the way Lin describes it, Lara's new movie - an origins-type of movie - won't be full-on action but will go deeper into the character. Kinda like Dark Knight, perhaps? Well, what ever the case, you can definitely scratch Angelina Jolie from the role - they're looking for someone younger.

Moé is a Japanese term referring how otaku love their characters in videogames and anime, often to the point of wishing they could watch over those characters. While you definitely won't be able to watch over videogame characters in real life, the Japanese website GameSpark does happen to have a listing of 20 of the most popular Xbox 360 characters known to Japan's gaming fans.

Whether that means you can stalk them is up to you though.

While the sample isn't exactly representative (1,500 votes), it does give us an indication that there's a pretty stable 360 community in Japan, all of which happen to like one female heroine above all others. In any case, here are the top 10 Xbox 360 game girls of Japan:

10. Luka from Lost Planet (33 votes)
9. Kluke from Blue Dragon (41 votes)
8. Aya from Oneechanbara VorteX (47 votes)
7. Lara Croft from Tomb Raider: Legend (48 votes)
6. Inphyy from Ninety-Nine Nights (55 votes)
5. Baek Changpo from Senko no Ronde Rev. X (71 votes)
4. Reiko Hinomoto from Rumble Roses XX (92 votes)
3. Alicia from Bullet Witch (117 votes)
2. Kasumi from the Dead or Alive series (221 votes)
1. Miki Hoshii from THE IDOLM@STER (565 votes)

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: LegendWant some bargains? Then you've come to the right place. If you've got 30 bucks to spend on a good game, then you might wanna think about getting Tomb Raider: Legend for the 360. Best Buy's selling 'em for $29.99.

In Legend, Lara embarks on another globetrotting adventure as she searches for an ancient and mysterious artifact. Hmm. All ancient artifacts in games and movies and stuff are mysterious, aren't they? And it also works the other way around: all mysterious artifacts are ancient.

Anyway, Legend has all the usual Tomb Raider goodies -- puzzles, acrobatics, and huge... things -- plus improved graphics and an enhanced interactive game environment. The game is from Eidos Interactive and has been stamped with a T rating by the ESRB.

She's tough - adventurous - daring - and (dare I say?) sexy to boot. Hard to believe she's only ten years old...

Tomb RaiderLara Croft came into the world a decade ago this month. Since then, she has appeared in numerous incarnations, upgrades, consoles, fan art, a feature film, and not a few adolescent boys' nighttime fantasies. (Well, the girls had Indiana Jones, after all.)

Game developer Core Design, Ltd. and publisher Eidos originally released this video as part of Lara's tenth anniversary celebration. Although its been out there a few days, the foreboding musical score, amazing sets and unbelievable cinematography make this clip is a fine representative of machinema film making. (In case you didn't know, "machinema" is a new art form in which game figures and animations are used to create visual stories - often as good or better than what Hollywood puts out, and produced at a mere fraction of the cost). I personally found this as entertaining as Indy Jones' finer moments (not to mention she's much more interesting to look at).

But, as always, you should not take my word for it. Check out this video gem for yourself:
