If you haven't grabbed Kengo: Legend of the 9 for Microsoft's Xbox 360 yet, a gameplay video might be what you need to decide if Majesco Entertainment and Genki's video game is worth the bucks. Prepare to engage in sword-clashing samurai action set in feudal era Japan because this will be wild.
The video shows how environmental factors come into play. Throw your enemies down the water or slam them to solid walls - the choice is yours. Effective use of surroundings can turn the tide of battle before enemy goons can say "harakiri." Time to draw blood. Make sure to watch the video of Kengo: Legend of the 9 below.

Thanks to Cooking Mama's hot sales and light-hearted gameplay that attracts casual gamers, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter foresees good numbers in Majesco Entertainment's upcoming financial report for this quarter.Pachter has faith that the company will post around US$ 10 million in sales this Q3, widely attributed to Cooking Mama. According to his expectations, sales would have dropped by 20%, slightly missing NPD figures that show Majesco experienced a 4% increase since last year. Pachter is positive about the company's future, saying "Majesco's remaining FY:07 lineup of budget titles, including 6 DS, 1 Wii, and 1 Xbox 360 game, should provide relatively modest revenue at a modest cost." Improvement in sales and cost management led Pachter to believe that the company will return to profitability soon. With Majesco enjoying US$ 12–13 million in quarterly revenue, Pachter sees US$ 65 million in annual revenues for the company. With upcoming Cooking Mama 2 and Furu Furu Park, and other promising titles, it doesn't take Nostradamus to guess that some good things awaits. |

Kengo Zero, or may be more known to many as Kengo: Legend of the 9,
first arrived in Japanese shores September of last year. The title is
actually the fourth entry in the relatively successful Kengo franchise
from development studio Genki. It was announced a couple of months ago that it will be released in North America and Europe this fall. To help you guys become more familiar with the game, here are a couple of new screenshots for Kengo Zero, straight from its publisher Majesco Entertainment. Judging from this new batch, we have to say that Genki still hasn't lost its touch in providing gamers with quality titles set in Feudal Japan. Since this is the first time that this particular iteration is gaining popularity in other markets, details are still rather scarce as of now. We only know that the objective of the game is to become the best damn samurai warrior in the land. There will also be several character customization options as well as a two-player head-to-head mode. For those who care about background stories in any particular game, you are also covered because Kengo Zero also sports an exciting mission mode. As always, enjoy the screenshots for now until we give you the next update. See the rest of the screenshots after the jump! |

Some of you might know of Kenta Cho - you might remember how his PC creations were later adapted and ported onto the PSP by homebrew developers. Mr. Cho's got bigger things to fry now, especially after Majesco Entertainment's E3 announcement of bringing one of his shoot-em-up creations, Tumiki Fighters, to the Wii (which is now called Blast Works: Build, Fuse & Destroy).Siliconera was able to hook up with Kenta Cho, and in an interview about Blast Works, they also touched on other matters that concern game development as a whole - more specifically digital content up for download on WiiWare, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade. He does express interest in developing games for the consoles, and right now, he's working on some XNA projects. They're just prototypes for now, but only time will tell... Here's an excerpt from the interview: Siliconera: Which digital platform is the most appealing to you? Kenta Cho: I like Xbox Live Arcade because it has many small good action games such as Geometry Wars and PAC-MAN CE. I haven't owned Playstation 3 yet but recently one PS3 E-Distribution game, Star Strike HD (Super Stardust HD), is on my mind. Yeah Super Stardust HD is, indeed, on quite a lot of people's minds. And you can't count out Geometry Wars either, as one of the games which further pushed the shmup genre (in a sense) to a different direction. Lots of casual games are available online. But how does Kenta Cho stack up to the big stackers? You can click the Read link below to see the full transcript of Kenta Cho's interview with Siliconera. |

Majesco Entertainment has announced that Genki's Kengo Zero is now slated for a fall release in the UK. Reminiscent of the old Bushido Blade series for the Sony PlayStation, Kengo Zero drops players smack dab in the middle of feudal Japan. The mission? Become the best samurai warrior in the land. "Kengo Zero's stunning high definition graphics bring the game's nine real samurai to life," said John Merchant, Marketing Manager, Majesco Europe. "With its 2-player head-to-head mode, attribute upgrades and fighter customization, Kengo Zero gives every player the opportunity to be the fighter they want to be and to test their metal against the very best." For a closer look at the game, check out the fact sheet -- minus the PR-speak -- behind the full article link below. Click the full article link to check out a Kengo Zero fact sheet. |

Last February, independent auditing firm Goldstein Goulb Kressler expressed their concern about Majesco Entertainment's financial health. Now, it seems that Majesco in a not-so-pleasant situation. Majesco, known as the publisher of games like Cooking Mama and Psychonauts among many others, revealed that they received a second notification from Nasdaq stating the company has not met the US$ 35 million market value of listed securities requirement for continued listing. Gibberish as this sounds, what this means is that Majesco's common stock is subject to delisting from the Nasdaq Capital Market unless the company requests a hearing before a Nasdaq Listing Qualifications Panel. In other words, this spells trouble as the fate of the company is in the hands of the Nasdaq panel. It's a sad thing when you're not in control of the situation, is it not? The company is dead set on requesting a hearing, but of course there are no guarantees that the Panel will give in to their request for continued listing. |
