Mars - Image 1The PS3 won't be the only console getting Spiders Games' action-RPG title, Mars. The game has just recently been announced to be in development for PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. Release has been set for the end of 2010, which is good because this game could definitely use some more polish. Check out the vid after the jump to see what I mean.

V for Vendetta, Moore, Lloyd - Image 1We posted an article one month ago that invited readers to do a little thought exercise. Here's what we said: "On the 5th of November we're going to post an article or two about video games, gadgets, technology, and general geekness ... the things about video gaming and technology that ought not be forgotten."

So here's our list of some video gaming and technology moments worth remembering. Hope this gets you thinking (and feeling nostalgic too!). And we look forward to your comments (and arguments). What do you remember and wish that the world will never forget?

universumWe have reported to you numerous 2007 predictions about gaming, specifically about the next-gen wars. We've heard about what analyst Michael Pachter had to say and even ordinary people like Benjamin Willcock said his piece about the matter.

Count this bit as something off-topic. European website, Games.Blogo featured a different take on the Wii vs. PS3 vs. Xbox 360 scenario. How different? Well, they consulted the expertise of Astrologer, Elizabeth Hathaway, and she came up with an astrological analysis based on the horoscopes of Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony. Well, we told you that it's a different take. Here's what Ms. Hathaway had to say (cue weird, gypsy music):

On Sony and the PS3:

Sony's sun in Taurus in sextile with Saturn reflects a culture where hard work is inherent to its success: strong work ethic. Sony makes durable products. The PlayStation is in fact a little black box – and this is a very Saturnal earthy image. The product is sturdy – designed to last...Sony's weakness is probably that it is not inclined to "change a winning team". This is it's Achilles' heel. At the top - there will be a conservative culture.

On Nintendo and the Wii:

Nintendo is intelligent, good in positioning itself on the market, and it makes attractive products. There is a lot of attention given to the form (Venus in Libra)...Then the Wii, this launch horoscope once again shows- in this case a particularly strong Scorpio theme. This is interesting, because Scorpio is a fixed sign and the Nintendo Wii is an active product. Gamers are used to sitting down to play, with the Wii, you have to get out of your chair...Also Nintendo's birth chart shows that the company has its progressed Sun in square with its radix Saturn. This suggests that in general, the company will have to work hard – very hard – to book results.

On Microsoft and the Xbox 360:

This could be a good year for Microsoft. Jupiter's entry into Sagittarius heralds a year in which Jupiter will transit Microsoft's radix Sun and Mars. This shows expansion, activity, and optimism. Sagittarius is good at adjusting to new circumstances and will aim for big, bigger, biggest...Success will come slowly – Microsoft needs to take a long breath. It will take them some time to establish the Xbox 360. People need to connect with the product first. But it will come for sure.

So in the end, who will emerge victorious? She mentioned that Sony has the lead, but in the long run, all of them have something different to offer. But the horoscope that sits most uncomfortably with the product is the Wii. Are these things something to consider? Well, we all have different beliefs so tell us what you think.

Oooops...said too much?Exactly just how much is an actress, involved in an upcoming game, entitled to reveal about the project? Depends on what the marketing strategy probably is. Or maybe depends on how much mystery the developers and publishers would want to be engulfing the title.

As to Assassin's Creed, we don't know if Ubisoft has given Kristen Bell the green light to divulge the sci-fi premise underpinning the game. According to the Veronica Mars star in her interview with IGN TV,

It's sort of based on the research that's sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it's instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a cockroach, if its parents don't show it? And it's about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into people's brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin, and sort of locate who that person is.

Right. Did you guys get all that? Sure was a mouthful. Anyhow, we guess it's not just the medieval action title we all thought it would be then, after all. If ever that is the real case regarding the game, that sure was some twist there. We just hope it wasn't all that spoiled by this revelation.

Assassin's Creed will be porting to both the Xbox 360 and PS3 come the 4th quarter of 2007.

Sergey Zabaryansky of the Deep Shadows development team stops by to shed some light on their ambitious RPG/FPS hybrid. We speak to the guys behind The Precursors!

QJ: Can you tell us a bit about some of the game's weapons?

SZ: There are various kinds of weapons, equipment, ammunition and technologies in the game. They are divided according to the race, quality and availability. It is worth mentioning types of bio-weapons in the game, which are actually living organisms with some attacking functions built-in by the very nature. For instance, acid spit function or dwarfing function. They are recharged by proper feeding and used by pressing some special sensitive points on their bodies. Of course, feeding provides protection for the bearer, as it’s unnatural to bite the feeding hand. There are also casual types of weapons, like laser and stunner, and rockets. All in all, over 30 types of personal weapons together with all upgrades. Moreover, there will be from 10 to 15 types of armor and in total over 40 types of additional equipment, stimulants and grenades.
