PS3 - Image 1It's numbers time again! The latest hardware sales figures from Japan's Media Create has been release, and competition is getting tighter as the PS3 inches closer and closer to the top, needing only about a thousand more units before overtaking the long-reigning DSi.

consoles - Image 1It's numbers time yet again! Famitsu's come out with their hardware sales charts, albeit a bit late this week. Still on top: DSi. And what's this we see inching closer to the top, a mere 4,000 units shy? It's the PSP with 40,000, just a tad bit below the DSi who has 44,000. The Xbox 360, meanwhile, edges out over PS2 with just 2,000 more units sold.

Xbox 360 - Image 1Despite introducing a more affordable price point for the Xbox 360, Microsoft did not enjoy as big a boom as Sony with the PS3 Slim-and-price-cut combo. Things are looking even more glum for Microsoft in its competitors' home turf, Japan, where word is coming out that the Xbox 360 is already struggling.

Consoles - Image 1We now have the results for this week's Japanese hardware sales for the week of September 28 through October 4, thanks to Media Create. Stats show that PSP got a major leg up, thanks to the launch of the PSP Go, as well as the Wii, thanks to the release of Wii Fit Plus.

Consoles - Image 1Here's the latest from Media Create. Hardware sales results for the week of September 21 through September 27 show the DSi still on top, with the PS3 and PS3 at a distant second.

Media Create - Image 1It's time to compare numbers again. After the impressive giant leap that the PS3 console made the past couple of weeks, things are starting to simmer down as the DSi regains the top spot in Japan's Media Create hardware sales chart for the week of September 7 through the 13th.

Consoles - Image 1Well, Media Create's official Japanese hardware sales are out, and I'd have to say Famitsu pretty much had it down pat with their released estimates from yesterday, give or take a few couple of hundreds. Official numbers after the jump.

Consoles - Image 1Famitsu's estimates on the latest hardware sales figures from Japan puts the previously down-trodden PlayStation 3 Sony console to a nicer spot at the top. That's much nicer.
