Sega Rally Revo - Image 1Sega Europe has sent round a quick heads up regarding Sega Rally Revo. Apparently, the Xbox 360 demo's now available for downloading over the Xbox Live Marketplace. Those looking for some racing action should go check it out.

The Sega Rally Revo demo comes with two quick tracks. One's from the Canyon environment while the other is taken from the Tropical environment. Those who download the demo can tear through the tracks in either a Mitsubishi Evo IX FQ3 or a Subaru Impreza STi Spec C Type RA.

The demo is available in all Xbox Live territories except Japan. Sega Rally Revo's full game will be released for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and Xbox 360.

It's all good when game producers adapt a clever scheme to show off their video games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and its frequently updated official website, for instance, to draw attention from eager fans.

And this is also exactly what the guys behind Sega Rally Revo are doing. Keith Burden, the Lead Car Artist for Sega Rally Revo, set up a blog in IGN to give people a peek on what cars to expect in the much awaited racing video game from Sega for the PlayStation 3, the PC, and the Xbox 360.

In his first blog post, Burden introduces the first class cars to be featured on the game: Subaru Impreza WRX STi, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX, Ford Focus RS, Peugeot 206 WRC, Skoda Fabia, and Citroen Xsara Rallycross.

Burden then gives his thoughts on why the cars were selected for inclusion in the game, and mentions in the blog post that there will be many unlockable cars, car variants, liveries as well as specialist cars. The rest of the cars, he says, will be revealed all in good time. The blog seems to be updated weekly, so it'll be best to check his blog for updates from time to time.

While advertisements and press releases do their job of disseminating information, nothing's better than engaging attention more effectively than offering a first-hand look at the game's progress while it's still being developed.

First set of cars for Need For Speed ProStreet - Image 1Electronic Arts recently gave out the the first car list for its video game Need For Speed ProStreet, and its looking pretty sweet. Each car is said to be "selected for a reason", whether because it is "unique, aspirational, memorable or highly desirable".

A big addition to the car list is the
Nissan GT-R PROTO (pictured at right). This is the first time it has ever been featured in any game. It was first revealed at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show and really turned heads when it came out.

Another car that most people would probably want to take a spin in is the 2008 BMW M3. Personally, I'd still go for the 1999 Mazda RX-7, but then I've always been a Mazda fanboy. Anyway, we're sure most of you are pretty excited about the selection so here's the list.

First car list for Need For Speed ProStreet:
  • Nissan GT-R PROTO
  • 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda
  • 1995 Mazda RX-7
  • 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse
  • 2006 Audi S4
  • 1986 Toyota Corolla GTS AE86
  • 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer EVOLUTION IX MR-edition
  • 2006 Volkswagen Golf GTI
  • 2008 BMW M3
Need For Speed ProStreet is slated for release on the PSP, PS2, PS3, Wii, DS, Xbox 360, PC, and Mobile this year. Keep checking back for more updates on this game.

Colin McRae: Dirt - Image 1

And so the dirt-flinging action roars to life as Codemasters launches the Colin McRae: DiRT playable demos. For the Xbox 360 version, you can now get it on Xbox Live, while the PC version, with a multiplayer event, is available from the DiRT website, which you may visit via our Read link below.

For both demo versions, the game opens with a Crossover race in a competition against Colin McRae himself. Get ready to careen through the twists and turns of Avelsbachring, Germany with your Subaru Impreza WRX STI spec Cs. After that, it's off to the Bark River Off Road Raceway in Michigan.

From here, the road forks for the Xbox 360 and PC demo editions. Xbox 360 gamers will be wheeled off to a Hill Climb event with a Mitsubishi Evo IX. Hopefully you'll make it unscathed to the top of the 1000 feet Windy Point in Arizona. The PC gamers, meanwhile, will be off to an all-new multiplayer high as they will be pitted against up to 100 players vying for the top spot on the Sardinian rally stage at Mounte di li Conchi.

The actual game of Colin McRae: DIRT will be skidding to a halt atop retail store shelves on June 15, for both the Xbox 360 and PC version.

dual layer HD DVD-R

Just like Blu-ray, HD DVD announced the release of a recordable media before burners are even revealed. Early this month, Hitachi and Mitsubishi announced that July 5 will see the entry of 15GB HD DVD-R media in Japan. They promised that the RW and dual-layer versions will also be coming out later in the summer. They stayed true to their words.

Although the HD DVD-RW has not been announced yet, Mitsubishi reveals that a 30GB dual-layer HD DVD-R will surely come out next month. The single-sided media can hold 150 minutes of HD content encoded at a 24Mbps playback rate. Mitsubishi highlighted the fact that the coming dual layer disc uses high-sensitivity dye for accurate recording on both the near-side and inner storage layers. Just like Blu-ray discs, the HD DVD discs will include the AACS copy-protection technology.

Verbatim may soon offer the 15GB and 30GB HD DVD-R discs in the future as the company is owned by Mitsubishi.
