Team Underdog has released the installation diagram for their NME-360 Ltd. Edition Modchip for Samsung drives. (Note: The black arrows indicate zoom. The red arrows arrows are alternative points. Only solder one wire to either a yellow point or a red point.)

Along with the diagram, Team Underdog developed the NME aSSociat0r - an easy-to-use tool for creating an NME 360 compatible ISO.

The NME-360 aSSociator prepares a clean ISO or converts an Xtreme ISO to make it bootable with your NME-360 modded Xbox360 by adding the security sector to the correct offset. Please read the directions in the readme file before you install this application. Once you have installed the NME aSSociat0r do the following steps:
  • Select the ISO file
  • Select the SS file
  • Press "CREATE"
The NME-360 compatible ISO will be created in 2 seconds. The NME-360 aSSociat0r can also convert Xtreme Images to NME-360 compatible images with a single press of a button.

Team UnderdogWe've told you before about the NME-360 DVD patch mod that's being developed by Team Underdog for the Xbox 360 consoles, and now the team's own website has been launched.

The team talks about the NME-360 modchip's ability to enable the Xbox 360 to play backups of original games, removing the necessity for dual mods with numerous wires or for bricking DVD drive by flashing, and the installation of this modchip via the provided pre-wired cables.

Another interesting feature of this modchip is the fact that it can't be detected online when you're playing an original online game as it "falls asleep" on its own when not in use. The NME-360 is able to auto-detect any inserted media and will inject the necessary information to the DVD drive if the media used is a backup.

According to Team Underdog, the first batch of the NME-360 chips is still being finalized for its July shipping. Hopefully, this "first real modchip" will do exactly all the things it says it can do - for gamers' sakes.

NME 360

The following is a very interesting translation of a German website we've come across today:

Right now the dual-firmware mods coming out for the Xbox 360 DVD drives are 30+ wire solutions. These points are not only very hard to solder, but it also requires a lot of known-how to extract the FW from the drive, extract the key, patch, encrypt, write back, install external switch on Xbox 360 so you can switch between the 2 firmwares, etc ...

We received interesting information about a new DVD mod named NME-360, that will be released soon. This chip will be a universal chip for all Xbox360 DVD drives. It will patch the firmware of the drive on-the-fly. The original firmware on the flash of the drive remains untouched.

The chip will recognize independently whether an original or a backup was inserted and switches itself to the corresponding mode (patched FW (on-the-fly) for backups and the normal unpatched FW for originals). That also means you will not have to install an external switch on your Xbox 360 to put the chip off.

For the Toshiba-Samsung drive you will have to solder only 4 wires, the Hitachi-LG drive will require 11 wires. The official website of the team, named 'Team Underdog', will be launched early next week."

Even the bad translation from German to English didn't stop Xbox enthusiasts to take notice of this modchip. A lot of gamers are calling it a worthy rival to the Devil 360. But of course something like this will indeed be very controversial. So this early on, two sides with opposing views have already formed. One side claiming that modchips are for homebrew and not for backups or pirated games, while the other side welcomes the idea especially excited that it can disable Xbox Live when you have the backup inserted. If you're interested, it's available from Team Underdog's online shop for EUR 39.95 inclusive VAT.
