EenVanDaag - Image 1EenVandaag, a Dutch current affairs TV program, recently conducted a survey on their youth's downloading habits. What the survey found was that a whopping 93% of the youngsters download content in a manner that most laws would consider illegal, citing the use of BitTorrent among other popular download programs.

The Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) has recently released an official announcement ticking off the need-to-know facts of this year's Tokyo Game Show (TGS). The freshly wired press release claimed that an anticipated 168 exhibitors will strut their stuff on 1,708 booths over eight spacious halls in Makuhari Messe, Mihama-ku, Chiba City starting September 20, 2007.

Tokyo Game Show 2007 on the roll: event outline detailed - Image 1

From 2007 onwards, the TGS will serve as a essential part in Japan's International Contents Festival (CoFesta). And while it will serve as a bid for major publishers towards the end-of-year season of software releases, it will also bring mobile telephony forward to the tech-savvy masses, courtesy of special sponsor NTT DoCoMo.

TGS2007, extending its show to four days for the first time, will also be introducing new exhibitors from around the world, including companies from The Netherlands, Sweden and Thailand, adding to the 51 international participating exhibitors from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.

The business leg of the event is also stretched to two full days, a conclusion of which is succeeded with open exhibition to a targeted gathering of 180,000 attendees on September 22-23. The first two days of the Nikkei co-organized event will be open only to attendees with business in mind, touting a TGS Forum 2007 program keynoted by none other than Kazuo Hirai, Sony Computer Entertainment's (SCE) president and group CEO.

When Electronic Arts said they've upped the ante on Need for Speed ProStreet (PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, PSP, PS2), they definitely weren't kidding. While they've spun developer interview after developer interview explaining why Need for Speed was being redefined for a more hardcore audience, those interested in what EA Black Box was offering waited quietly for an up-close and personal look, taste and feel.

But wait no longer, because from Dutch (Netherlands) Game1, we've watched an in-game gameplay demonstration of Need for Speed ProStreet on what appears to be an updated version of the circuit race (or URL) and found our eyes momentarily glued to the screens in awe. That much detail (including damage and asphalt grain) with an almost unflinching framerate was dumbfounding - at the least.

Without further ado, though, we'll let you check out the three-minute long gameplay video. Downtown Tokyo, here we come a-driftin'!

InsideGamer's screencap from Nobilis site - Image 1

With a huff and a puff, folks at the NeoGAF forums seem to have dug up something rather interesting for Lost Planet fans. Someone had sourced InsideGamer, a website based in the Netherlands, claiming that the previously reported "Lost Planet Colonies" trademark of Capcom is more or less confirmed to be a game.

The screencap above was taken by InsideGamer. It's part of the release list of Netherlands-based publisher/distributer Nobilis, and notches Lost Planet Colonies to be released for the Xbox 360 and PC platforms January of next year. Now, "released" here could mean different things. Released as a map pack, maybe? Or, what some are hoping, released as a sequel.

We'll give you more info as they come along. Hopefully, we don't have to release intergalactic space recon-units to find those lost colonies.

Xbox 360 Disc Scratch - Image 1Dutch website, Vara, reports that a Dutch TV show called Kassa aired a segment that claims that Microsoft's Xbox 360 damages media. More importantly, it was noted that the European Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, Maglena Kunevam, want Microsoft to explain themselves - fast.

Microsoft has noted that they will look into the problem of the Xbox 360 scratching disks. However, it seems that this isn't enough for the European Commissioner for Consumer Affairs. She has ordered Microsoft to detail how they have handled that DVD scratching problem in the Netherlands and, more importantly, how widespread the problem is in other regions.

The Dutch site notes that this is what can be found in the website of Commissioner Maglena Kuneva:

During her visit to the Netherlands Commissioner Kuneva spoke with the Dutch Radio Consumer Programme "KASSA". Following concerns raised by the KASSA programme in relation to the use of the Microsoft X-Box by Dutch consumers, Commissioner Kuneva confirmed that she had written to Microsoft to ask for more information concerning:

(1) details of the actions Microsoft has taken in The Netherlands to resolve the problems relating to the use of the X-Box there;
(2) details of whether the same problem has occurred on other markets.

The Inquirer reports that there are already around 1,000 complaints in the Netherlands alone. Consequently, the Commissioner wants a response from Microsoft in a week's time.

A mostly English language interview from Kassa radio with Commissioner Kuneva can be had using our "read" link below. Feel free to access it if you're curious for more on what she's said. As for the disc scratching, since that isn't a surprising phenomenon to any long-time Xbox 360 gamer, perhaps this old article could help enlighten the uninitiated.

Eragon the Movie - Image 1Those of you who missed the Eragon movie sure missed a lot. But not to worry, cos now you have the chance to grab the Eragon movie over at Microsoft's Xbox Live. Uh... actually, it's not the full-length movie, per se. It's just the theme. (boo!!!) Oh well.

But it is free, after all. Actually, this theme is in celebration of the release of Eragon for the DVD. So, it's close enough. Anyhow, the theme, obviously, is inspired by the film and will be available in the following territories: Australia, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

It was a worldwide XBL tourneyYou guys are probably too busy playing multiplayer on Gears, but just in case you care, here's the news: Andries Smit from the Netherlands emerged victorious from the FIFA Interactive World Cup 2006, after beating Austrian Wolfgang Meier in a grueling Grand Final that had its final score pegged at 6:4.

Here's what Smit had to say after receiving the prize money of $20,000:

I’m absolutely amazed, stunned and delighted! I thought that it was just great to be in the Grand Final, but here I am leaving with the title and a trip to Zurich to the FIFA World Player Gala! I can’t believe it! The whole tournament was just brilliant

Even though the football was all virtual (they were playing FIFA 07), Amsterdam's Westergasfabriek was tightly packed with 1,500 spectators. What's nice about this year is that this years' Cup can truly be called a global event. In addition to the qualifying events that took place around the world, players from 25 countries competed on Xbox Live for their place in the Grand Final. This year’s finalists also met the 16 final contestants from the two previous FIWC tournaments.

Too bad last year's winner didn't get as much as this year's did.

Cars

Browsing over the realms of the Xbox Live Marketplace, we found out that the Cars demo is now available for download for Xbox Live Gold members.

The Cars Demo is free, so that's good, the thing is, it's not available to folks in Asia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Norway. Oh, and before you guys close the browser and go to your Xbox to download the thing, please be aware that Silver users will have to wait until November 23.

So far, the game looks like a fun kids' game parents can get for their 7-9 year olds. There is word though that it isn't "totally" a game for kiddies, as some online reviewers say that the cars handle like bricks on wheels.

We'll be downloading this as soon as the pending downloads we've got on the Xbox 360 we have here finish. We'll inform you guys about how the thing plays when it's done and we've tried zooming over the plains as Lightning McQueen.
